It is practically impossible to know Nigeria’s first singer because singing as always been part of the human culture from time immemorial but the first ever Nigerian to release an album is Canon Josiah Jesse Ransome Kuti (Fela Anikulapo’s Grandfather and Prof Wole Soyinka’s great-grand father). He has been composing songs since 1878 and and his last work was released in 4th August, 1921. His album is still at the British Museum.. In a chat on this week’s episode of MTV Base Real Talk where Phyno was a guest, the rapper revealed the people he actually wants to be like in the game…. According to him, the lives of the likes of Tuface and P-Square is very enviable, knowing they are married, have kids and have been in the game for long and still relevant. When he was asked the people he is actually jealous about in the music industry, Phyno said; ‘I see people like P Square and 2face, the level they are right now and still relevant. That is supposed to be the prayer of every artiste. To get married, have kids and still be relevant to the new generation, that is one thing I pray about. So if you want to describe it as jealousy, yeah,’ he said.

Some cyber cafe operators in Lagos on Friday decried the poor internet reception across the country, saying it was hampering their businesses. Some operators who spoke with the the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) called on the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to intervene and make the sector business-friendly. An operator, Treasure Uchegbu lamented that the incessant internet poor internet access being experienced is adversely affecting her income. ”As operators who depend on daily earnings, we are worse affected by the bad network services. Most times, customers wait for hours for internet access to transact their businesses and such situations impede our operations,” Uchegbu said.

A solidarity march took place in Lagos today, September 10 in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption. Some of the groups that participated in the march included the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), the Trade Union Congress, the National Youth Council, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and other affiliated workers’ labour groups. According to Comrade Chinedu Bosah, the organising secretary of Democratic Socialist Movement, the protest was also organised  simultaneously in other key states of the federation.

Primary: PDP Governors Move To Save Wada     A report by Leadership indicates that governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party are mounting pressure on Jubril Isa, one of the party’s aspirants in the Kogi state primary, to step down for the incumbent governor, Idris Wada . Ahead of the primaries, there are rumours that the governor do not have adequate support from the party delegates to defeat  Isa, who is popularly called Ochocho in the state. The primary election which was earlier scheduled to hold on  Thursday, September 10, was postponed to Monday, September 14, 2015, in what the National Working Committee of the party says is due to some logistic issues pertaining to the exercise.

Police Nab Masquerades For Stealing     Two masquerades have been arrested along Nru community, the university town of Nsukka by a combined team of men from the Area Command and the Nsukka Urban Police Division for robbing, torture and extorting money from unsuspecting victims.Following the increased atrocities by the masquerades, the two suspects were arrested after engaging the police team in a physical combat. Musa Assures Nigerian's Of Good Performance Against Eygpt     Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa has assured Nigerians that the team will perform better when they face Egypt on March 23 and 27, 2016 for the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2017 double header. Troops Kill 10 Bandits, Arrest 64 Suspects     At least 10 bandits were killed by troops under the 1 Division of the Nigeria Army in various joint operations tagged “Operation Restore Peace II” in the Northwest zone of Nigeria. The Nation reports that about 64 suspected terrorists have been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigations. During the military operations, 7119 cattles, sheep and goats were also recovered from rustlers who have been terrorizing people in the zone. Meanwhile, the troops that operate in Zamfara, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Kano and Kaduna states have extended their activities to Niger and Kogi. Photo: 18 kg tumour removed from a 17-year-old girl's stomach Saudi doctors removed an 18-kg tumour from the abdomen of a 17-year-old local girl after she was admitted to hospital with severe pain, Emirate 24/7 reports. Officials at the government hospital in the Western town of Makkah that image scans showed the mass, measuring 30 by 25cm, spread from the upper abdomen down to the pelvis. "It weighed nearly 18 kg, almost a third of the girl’s weight and caused sharp pain to her. The mass was removed successfully without any complications to the patient." Dr. Hilal Al Malki, a doctor at the hospital revealed.

Rundell Avenue in Pontiac, between Baldwin Avenue and Saginaw Street. He found his 47-year-old father-in-law, Henry Allen Micheal of Detroit, naked with his wife in bed. An argument ensued between them and Micheal (the father-in-law) stabbed the younger man in the back with a knife.

Police Discover 4 Dead Bodies In Awka The Anambra state police command has made a shocking discovery in a room along Olisa Onyeka Crescent, Commissioner’s quarters, Ifite, Awka.   Newsday reports that police discovered four already decomposing bodies in a room on Tuesday, September 8. The team of police officers, led by the state commissioner of police, Hassan Karma, alongside an ambulance and some morticians, broke the door of the room and discovered four female dead bodies. The women died in the room without any injuries or signs that suggested any struggle leading to their deaths. One of the dead women was identified as the occupant of the room, Chinwe Obi, an employee of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission INEC, Awka.   Ngige Loses Father   The former governor of Anambra state Chris Ngige has lost his father, Ozo Akunnia Pius Okonkwo Ngige, according to a report on This Day. In a statement issued yesterday by the ex-governor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Pius Ngige died last Friday, September 4, at the age of 105 years in his home town, Alor in Idemili south local government area of Anambra state. Condolence messages have since trickled in from party members and associates in the home of the late Pius Ngige.
