United limped to a goalless draw against PSV on Wednesday evening which means that they are still not certain of a place in the Champions League knockout phase with just an away trip to Wolfsburg remaining.
Reports of Van Gaal’s strict regime having a negative impact on the players have already surfaced this season but The Daily Telegraph’s chief football correspondent Jason Burt told BBC Radio 5live:
”I’ve got to be careful what I say here but I’ve spoken to one player at United who told me he’s half the player he can be here at the moment because of the way they are playing.
“He doesn’t feel that it’s fair on him. He doesn’t feel that it’s fair on the fans.
“He can’t express himself properly and finds it very difficult to play here.”
