Surveillance video from inside the school shows a hooded student following a math teacher Colleen Ritzer, 24, her down a corridor into the girl’s toilet. During thegruesome attack that lasted eleven minutes Chism raped her with a stick and stabbed her to death with a box cutter knife.
Chism then leaves the toilet, apparently carrying the teacher’s
bloodstained clothing and rolling a recycling bin with the woman’s body
inside along the hall and out the back door. He is then seen carrying
different bags and changing his clothes.
In
the footage, the person in the hooded sweatshirt’s right hand is
visibly red, from what could be the teacher’s blood after he exits the
restroom
Ritzer’s body along with a hand-written note that reads ‘I hate you
all’ was found in the woods behind the school. The murder is believed to
be well planned, as Chism came to shool armed with a knife, box cutter,
change of clothes and a ski mask.
Although Chism’s lawyers have admitted the teen raped and killed
the teacher they claimed he couldn’t be punished as he is mentally
ill. However, he has already undergone a mental health evaluation and
was found competent to stand trial.
If convicted of murder, he faces decades in prison.
