   The senate today confirmed Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta as the new Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Danbaba was appointed in acting capacity by President Buhari on August 4th following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past NCC boss, Eugene Juwah.

  Hassan Muhammad, a 52-year-old man based in Maje village on the outskirt of Suleja, Niger State, has been arrested by the State Police Command for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old boy and sodomising him for two months before he was rescued, Daily Trust reports. The Sokoto State born Muhammad, a trader and father of seven, was first arrested by members of the Suleja Emirate Vigilante operating in the area before he handed over to the Suleja Police Area Command, where he was currently being held.

  Suspended FIFA President Sepp Blatter said it was only the congress of soccer’s governing body and not its ethics committee that could bar him from office. He said on Thursday in Zurich during a media interview, that it was only the parliament that could impeach an elected president. “I’m not a FIFA official. I’m the elected president of the congress. “If one does not agree with the way I do my job, one has to turn to the congress that elected me,” he said.

  Top Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji has announced the death of his father. Olamide who just released his 5th studio album,  Eyan Mayweather , announced the sad news on his Instagram page on Thursday. While praying for the peaceful repose of his father, the YBNL rapper wrote a farewell message via his Instagram thus: “O God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother; in Thy mercy have pity on the soul of my father, and forgive his trespasses; and make me to see him again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Rest well Dad.. Forever in my heart.” On his ‘Street OT‘ album released in 2014, Olamide wrote about his father getting shot by armed robbers on the track ‘ 1999 ‘.   A Batch ‘B’ corps member, Jeremiah Osewe, at the Issele-Uku Orientation Camp near Asaba, Delta State, almost choked his girlfriend to death on Monday over a rival corps member. It was reliably gathered that the victim, Stella Omorodion, before coming to the orientation camp, had a boyfriend who was unknown to her boyfriend at the camp. Sources said that trouble started when Stella’s former boyfriend was redeployed from Zamfara State to Delta State, and after making enquiries discovered that Stella was in the camp at Issele-Uku. The sources added that the duo resumed their relationship. It was learnt that the victim and her former lover boy were sighted at the popular Mammy Market in the community by the enraged corps member who was alleged to have mobilised his friends to the scene.

  Dwayne' The Rock' Johnson is known for his love of animals and he demonstrated it once again as he stepped in to help a stricken dog. According to a gofundme site set up for the dog which is incidentally named Dwayne after the famous actor/wrestler, 'He was dumped at North Central Shelter with a large metal wire wrapped around the bottom portion of his mouth. It took bolt cutters for the shelter to remove it. Dwayne also has a grade 5 heart murmur. Grade 6 is considered the most severe.'

   Roli Bode George, the wife of PDP Chieftain, Bode George has assumed office as the acting Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. Her appointment comes after the former chairman of the anti-drug agency Ahmadu Giade retired from office on Wednesday November 25th after serving the agency for 10 years.

As the deadline issued to President Muhammadu Buhari to shut London Nigerian High Commission draws near, more Nigerians living in the United Kingdom have pitched their tent with the movement, vowing to carry out their threat. On Monday, a Nigerian-born Britain-based human rights activist, Professor Alexia Thomas, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to President Buhari calling for a closure of the Nigerian High Commission in United Kingdom or face the wrath of Nigerians living there.

  Fraudsters who defraud people by buying goods with ‘magic’ or ‘mystic money’ are on the prowl in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. The fraudsters sometimes pretend to be tricycle riders or taxi drivers. Yesterday, some of them entered a rice shop on Aka- Etinan Road, Uyo and duped a sales girl with alleged ‘magic money’ and succeeded in going away with seven bags of rice without full payment. The story surprised passers-by. Narrating her ordeal, the sales girl, Rose Etim, from Mbiet Ebe Obio Uyo, said two men came to the shop to purchase 10 bags of rice. According to her, after telling them a bag of rice was N12,000, the fraudsters paid her N120,000 in N1,000 notes.

  A millionaire who punched a paedophile to death after seeing him take pictures of his young daughter is to be spared jail. Dad-of-three Devinder Kainth was sentenced to six months after admitting the manslaughter of Sandro Rottman at a restaurant in the upmarket resort of Sotogrande, Spain. But the sentence is to be suspended as he made a deal with prosecutors – and first offenders in Spain are normally not jailed unless they are given two years or more. And it emerged Kainth, an estate agent, may even end up being let off with just a fine after his lawyer appealed. A source said: “Mr Kainth feels aggrieved as prosecutors offered him a suspended jail term replaceable by a fine.

  President Buhari will on Friday November 27th visit Lagos state for the formal commissioning of three helicopters, patrol vehicles, power bikes and other security gadgets acquired by Governor Ambode-led administration to beef up security in the state through the Rapid Response Squad. In a press release issued by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, President Buhari will be the special guest of honour at the ceremony which will hold at the Lagos House, Alausa in Ikeja.

  A young woman who was sexually assaulted by a man she met outside a nightclub tracked him down on Facebook after he mentioned they had friends in common. Chanel Purchase, 21, found the picture of 22-year-old James Huggett after trawling social media following the attack in April last year. The man - who did not tell her his name - had offered to walk Miss Purchase home, but pinned her to the floor and tried to rape her just metres from her front door.  On Tuesday, Miss Purchase, from Sheerness, Kent, told how she believes combing Facebook helped bring her attacker to justice.
