The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II
The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II has advised journalists to be cautious in their reportage and uphold the ethics of the profession.
Oba Adekunle who exclusively spoke with Naij.com during a courtesy visit expressed his disappointment over an on-line report insinuating the monarch has passed on.

”I left Nigeria on October 7 for London to attend the wedding ceremony of late Oba Okunade’s son. The wedding took place in London on October 10. I arrived on October 22 to attend my son’s wedding which took place in Ibadan October 24.”
”One of the ways I unwind is through dancing and that Saturday I enjoyed myself only to discover some people have been peddling unfounded rumours certainly not about me because I am as strong as ever,” he said
The paramount ruler of Ijeshaland admonished journalists to be more wary in disseminating unfounded rumour.
”You can imagine an online news platform publishing that their father is dead when there was no such thing. What type of junk journalism is that?”
”I want to cease this opportunity to admonish journalists all over the world to be more careful. Journalism is for decent people not hooligans. How can you publicise information that does not exist. What do you call that?”

The monarch and his emmasaries

They know my number and there are millions of sons and daughters of Ijeshaland in the United States to contact and cross check. That is what I call junk journalism. That is what they practice.
”Use your own reportage to teach them lessons. They behave as if they are in the 12th century. They should go and learn.
I’m not moved. My people are happy people and they are happy with their Oba. They know nothing of such happened and it will not happen in Jesus name.” the monarch said.
On Tuesday October 27, the death rumour of the monarch became a subject of discussion on social media. There was confusion as regards the the true state of the monarch until his son Prince Adeyemi Aromolaran dispelled the rumour. He told Naij.com that the king was holding meetings in his palace and has been attending to all official duties expected of the monarch.
