F. Gary Gray Sets New Record For Black Directors With ‘Straight Outta Compton’


N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton continues to cruise into elite box office territory as it sets yet another cinematic record. With the film pulling in an estimated $157.5 million in the U.S. and Canada, director F. Gary Gray has officially become the highest-grossing black director of a single film in domestic sales. Gray has edged out Keenen Ivory Wayans, whose classic Scary Movie film raked in $157 million back in 2000, and Tim Story, who earned $154.6 with Fantastic Four in 2005.
 Straight Outta Compton is the only film in the bunch that is based on a true story, however, and is also set apart as a “hip-hop” film.

Iheanacho equals Bursaspor record as he continues impressive start in Turkey

  Kelechi Iheanacho is one match away from setting a new Bursaspor scoring record after extending his impressive start to life in Turkey with another two goals. The Super Eagles striker scored twice as Bursaspor secured a 2-1 away victory over Batman Petrolspor on Saturday, September 19, helping his side move clear at the top of the Turkish second division. New CIA document reveals Osama bin Laden was plotting terror attack on Britain before 9/11

  Newly declassified CIA documents show that US intelligence officials believed Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were considering attacks on the United Kingdom several years before the September 11, 2001, attacks. The documents were released by the CIA to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and include intelligence assessments dating from the late 1990s. Among them is an August 28, 1998, briefing titled “Bin Ladin Terrorist Network Still a Threat”, which indicated that bin Laden was considering further attacks against both the United States and the UK. The memo was compiled following US cruise missile strikes against Al-Qaeda-linked targets in Sudan and Afghanistan. “Hours before the US missile strikes, Bin Laden was looking at options for further attacks against the US as well as the UK,” the document said. “Bin Ladin did not indicate precise targets or timing.” The assessment also identified a US embassy in an unnamed country as a possible target and said a man had been authorised by b...
