Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro has been banned from leaving Brazil and ordered to hand over his passports just hours after losing the presidential election to Leftist leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The ruling was issued by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the same justice who oversaw the trial of the senator’s father, the former president Jair Bolsonaro, for attempting a coup. The 45-year-old said the decision to seize his passport stems from a statement made by his brother, U.S.-based former lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro, that Flavio would have to leave Brazil if he lost the election.   "I never said that," the defeated candidate insisted in the Instagram video.   He said that police had stopped him in the street moments after he had visited his imprisoned father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.   "I was served with an order to hand over my passports, and I am also banned from leaving the country," the right-wing senator sai...

A group of 50 peers has urged Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to prevent Macklemore from entering Britain ahead of his scheduled concert at London’s OVO Arena, Wembley. The rapper, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, is due to perform on October 30 as part of his Free Palestine Tour. According to Metro, a letter written by Baron Walney, the government's former  adviser on political violence, asks the Home Secretary to revoke the musician’s electronic travel authorisation. The peers argue that his proposed visit would not be conducive to the public good because some concert proceeds would reportedly go to the Palestinian Youth Movement. The organisation has faced allegations of links to terrorist groups and of celebrating their activities. It denies those allegations. The letter also criticises the movement over a social media post following the October 7 attacks in Israel that stated: “When people are occupied, resistance is justified.” According to The Telegraph’s account ...
