Crystal Palace have appointed Patrick Vieira as their new manager on a three-year deal. The Arsenal legend replaces Roy Hodgson who stepped down at the end of last season after four years at the helm. Vieira has signed a contract until the summer of 2024 and accepts his third role in senior management. A woman taking a walk miraculously survived after slipping and plunging 60ft from a clifftop and landing on rocks. Rebekah Crawford suffered six lumbar spine fractures when she lost her footing on a narrow path near Lamorna Cove, Cornwall, England, and tumbled over the side. Rescuers managed to reach her on a narrow ledge before a helicopter arrived to fly her to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. Amazed doctors have told her it is rare for anyone to fall so far and survive. The 37-year-old physiotherapist recounted how she heard her sister’s horrifying screams as she plummeted to the rocks during the family walk in June last year.     Rebekah said: "I was on a narrow bit of path, not much more than a foot width, and my left ankle just twisted and there was absolutely nothing to my left. The UK police have revealed why Nigerian born footballer, Odichukumma Kelvin Igweani, was shot dead on Saturday, June 26. Odichukumma Kelvin Igweani is said to have killed a neighbour who rushed to save a toddler he took hostage.     The neighbour heard a toddler screaming for his life from Igweani's house and he went to intervene but was killed. Other neighbours called police to report a "horrible commotion" inside. When police stormed the flat in Milton Keynes, Bucks, on June 26, they found hero, Richard Woodcock, 38, lying on the floor lifeless.   Woodcock   Officers also found Igweani holding the seriously injured two-year-old boy captive in the bedroom.     After initial attempts to stun the 24-year-old footballer with a taser as he continued to pose a threat to his hostage, police shot him four times.     Igweani was pronounced dead at the scene and Woodcock died of head injuries while the toddle...

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has claimed that Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped by the federal government of Nigeria, adding that it is wrong. Kanu was extradited to Nigeria to face trial after he jumped bail and fled the country in 2017. Details of his arrest have not been revealed but Wole Soyinka says he believes the IPOB leader was kidnapped. Speaking with BBC Pidgin in an interview published on Monday, July 5, Soyinka said there would be an uproar in the country if the truth of how Kanu was arrested becomes known. He said: "It’s not for me to tell the president to prepare itself because it’s going to be a huge squawk when the truth about how Kanu was arrested comes out. People are alleging this or that. France star footballer, Kylian Mbappe has reportedly rejected the latest contract offered to him by French club Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappe has a year remaining on his deal at Parc des Princes, and could leave at the end of next season as a free agent. PSG have insisted that their most prized asset will not be allowed to leave in 2021, and have offered him a new deal wary he could leave on a free next summer.  However, according to a report by Marca, the 22-year-old Mbappe and PSG officials are far apart in their contractual negotiations. Mbappe reportedly prefers to sign a new contract with the guarantee of being able to make the switch elsewhere if another club makes a suitable offer. However, PSG don't want such a clause in the new contracts as it would go against rules outlined by the French Professional Football League.

Bovi has called out Nollywood actor Niyi Akinmolayan, describing him as a clout chaser for promoting his movie after he deliberately refused to identify with the project since it came out. Recall the comedian/actor recently released his comedy movie, 'My Village People' which was directed by Akinmolayan. But in a lengthy post on Saturday, Bovi accused the director of attempting to shut down his set during their shoot following a disagreement about the movie script.  After the said disagreement, Bovi claimed the approach to making the movie became 'lame' and 'deliberately mediocre.' He went on to explain how he was told to ignore Akinmolayan and focus on completing the project.  The comedian also slammed Akinmolayan for just coming out to identify with the movie because the project is doing 'favorably well.'  

Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has said that he withdrew his son, Abubakar, from a public school in the state because bandits were targeting him for abduction.  The governor had in September 2019 enrolled Abubakar into the Kaduna Capital School which is a public school in the state. He had said that  his decision to send Abubakar to a public school was a way of showing his commitment to fixing public education and raising the standards. However, during an interview with BBC Pidgin on Thursday, Governor El-Rufai said he has ''temporarily'' withdrawn Abubakar and one of his daughters who he had also enrolled in the school when she clocked six years old. He said their withdrawal from the school occurred on the advice of security agencies after they received intel that the children were being targeted by bandits.
