Two young men were shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists in Awka, the Anambra state capital. The men were gunned down at Ifite, all in Awka South local government area of the State on Sunday night, April 18.  One of the victims has been identified as Anthony Onwudinjo, a fitness instructor in one of the gyms in the town. Anthony was said to have been shot four times at a close range in front of his mother on Sunday April 18, the day Catholics the world over celebrated Mothering Sunday. The second victim identified simply as Nnamdi was shot dead at the UNIZIK Temporary Site, popularly known a UNIZIK-Junction.   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the death of three of its staff in a road accident in Borno state. The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, made the confirmation in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.  Okoye said that the commission on Sunday received a sad report from Mohammed Ibrahim, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the State, of a fatal road accident involving a number of its members of staff serving in the State.  He said that Ibrahim informed the commission that an Electoral Officer (EO) and some Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) travelling from some Local Government Areas to Maiduguri for a special training ahead of the conversion of Voting Points into Polling Units were involved in the accident.  According to him, the three members of staff that lost their lives are: Adamu Mohammed (EO, Biu LGA), Abubakar Joda and Suleiman Umar (...

  The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it will not increase the ex-depot price of Premium Motor spirit also known as petrol in May. The Group Managing Director, Malam Mele Kyari, made this known at the end of a closed door meeting with Petroleum Transport Drivers (PTD), National Association of Road Transporters Owners (NARTO) and oil marketers in Abuja on Monday. Ex-depot price is the price marketers buy products from depot owners; it determines the pump price at filling stations. Antron Pippen, the son of Hall of Fame basketball player Scottie Pippen has died at the age of 33.   The iconic Chicago Bulls forward disclosed the sad news via Instagram on Monday, April 19.     He shared multiple pictures of him and Antron Pippen, as a smiling young man and as an infant.     A cause of death was not listed.   Scottie wrote: "I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.     "Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would've made it to the NBA. Police have arrested a man after he allegedly left his ID after breaking into a hotel room in Manhasset, New York on April 16. Michael C. Lee, 29, allegedly entered another guest's room at the Travelodge hotel on Northern Boulevard at around 3 a.m. through their unlocked sliding glass window, according to CBS New York. The female guest, 33, called out to her boyfriend, 44, for help upon encountering Lee, Daily Voice reported. The couple demanded to know why he was in their room and asked for his ID. Lee willingly handed over his driver's license and fled the room without collecting it back.     The woman informed the police after noticing her money was gone. Lee was arrested at 5:05 a.m. the same day without incident, according to authorities. He is charged with second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.   He was arraigned last Friday, April 16.
