Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles has said that there are no plans for the iconic group to reunite, make albums, tour or do anything. According to TMZ, Knowles who is still the group's official manager said the recent update of Destiny’s Child’s official account on social media which sparked speculation of a reunion, was nothing more than a regular renewal by the record label. This all comes shortly after Beyonce offered an update on her music, saying in an interview;     “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. The oldest chimpanzee in Europe has died aged 49 years old, it has been announced. Judy the chimp was born in 1972 and died at the park in Bussolengo in the Veneto region in northern Italy last Wednesday. She is survived by her daughter Valentina and her niece Judith. The park members described her as a member of the troop that always gave support to other female members. They added that she was socially very aware, often keeping her distance when dangerous situations came up. The park took to social media to share the story of Judy’s final day.

Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that winger Christian Pulisic has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating. Pulisic will now miss Chelsea’s Premier League London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, August 22.  His diagnosis comes a week after Ruben Loftus-Cheek contracted Covid-19, while Arsenal have also been dealing with their own outbreak after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Willian and Alex Runnarson were all affected. Thomas Tuchel confirmed: “Christian has unfortunately had a positive test and needs to follow the protocols. The northern Spanish city of Gijón on Thursday called off its century-old bullfighting festival. The city called off the popular event accusing bull breeders and the organisers of “crossing various lines.” This was after two of the bulls slain this week were named “Feminist” and “Nigerian”, The Guardian UK reports. Addressing the reporters, the city’s socialist mayor, Ana González, said, “The bullfighting festival is over. “They have crossed various lines … a city that believes in equality between men and women, that believes in integration, that believes in open doors for everyone cannot allow these sorts of things to happen.” Citing growing opposition among city residents, the Socialist party had decided at its most recent congress to do away with the 133-year-old Begoña bullfighting festival. According to González, bullfighting was being “used to display an ideology contrary to human rights.” The city will record a loss of €50,000 (£43,000) in annual income, González said....

Liquid, a top Japanese cryptocurrency exchange platform has been hit by hackers, with almost $100m (£73m) now estimated to have been stolen. The company announced that some of its digital currency wallets have been "compromised" making it the second major theft of cryptocurrencies to take place recently.  Last week, digital token platform Poly Network was at the centre of a $600m heist.  'Warm' or 'hot' digital wallets are usually based online and designed to allow crypto users to access their cryptocurrencies more easily, while 'cold' wallets are offline and harder to access and therefore usually more secure. "We are sorry to announce that #LiquidGlobal warm wallets were compromised, we are moving assets into the cold wallet," the company said on Twitter on Friday, August 20. Human rights group, Amnesty International has revealed that the Taliban "massacred" and brutally tortured several members of the Hazara minority in Afghanistan, in July. The Hazara community is Afghanistan's third largest ethnic group.  They mainly practise Shia Islam and have faced long-term discrimination and persecution in predominantly Sunni Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to AI, witnesses have given harrowing accounts of the killings, which took place in early July in Ghazni province. This comes after Taliban tried to portray a more restrained image, taking over the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday August 15 . Villagers said they had escaped to the mountains when fighting intensified between government forces and Taliban fighters. When some of them returned to the village of Mundarakht to collect food, they said the Taliban had looted their homes and were waiting for them. Liverpool and Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho has been left devastated after his father passed away. His wife, Rebeca Tavares shared the sad news on Friday morning, August 20, telling her followers that Fabinho's father, Joao Roberto, had passed.  'I thank God for the privilege of having known you. Your grandchildren will know the amazing grandfather they had. I love you father-in-law!   NBA star, LeBron James has reacted over an ESPN poll which left him out without a single vote for the current best player in the NBA. The poll, which collated the views of anonymous NBA scouts and executives, resulted in a split vote between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant, who both received five nominations each. Antetokounmpo powered the Milwaukee Bucks to an NBA title last season while Brooklyn Nets player Durant recently led Team USA to a fourth straight gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. LeBron, who clearly wasn't happy with the poll, took to Twitter on Thursday, August 19, to thank his doubters for giving him some added motivation.  

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu Command, on Thursday, August 19, 2021, arrested 14 suspected internet fraudsters at the Monarch axis of Enugu, Enugu State. Confirming their arrest, the antigraft agency in a statement released gave the names of the suspects as Okoro Anselem, Okoh Chumsdi, Ngwuta Chibuike, Chukwugekwu Michael,Chukwuemeka Victor, Chima Richard, Simon Prosper, Joshua Bomateh and Chukwunonso Henry. Other include Waritimi Fredrick, Ifesinachi valentine, Amadi Michael, Ijere Caleb, Victor Nduka and Joshua Odoemenam. The statement says the suspects were arrested based on verified intelligence on their involvement in internet-related fraud. Items recovered from the suspects include two vehicles, several mobile phones, laptops and other incriminating items. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.  

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released former governor of Abia State, Sen. Theodore Orji after being detained by operatives of the anti-corruption agency.  The Senator was arrested with son Chinedu over alleged misappropriation of N2billion Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds while the former governor was in office between 2007 and 2015. They were intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday August 19. According to sources familiar with the case, Mr Orji was granted an administrative bail after facing hours of interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at about 9 p.m. on Thursday. The lawmaker, currently representing Abia Central Senatorial District at the Senate was asked to return to the EFCC office for further interrogation on Friday.

The Federal High Court in Abuja refused to grant an ex parte application to restrain the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from arresting and extraditing suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari. Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Thursday, August 19, rejected the application filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Northern Peace Foundation. The foundation, through its legal team led by Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, had, through an ex parte application, prayed the judge to grant the temporary order of injunction against the two defendants pending the hearing and final determination of the substantive suit. The application dated August 9 was accompanied by a 21-paragraph affidavit of urgency. However, after carefully listening to the counsel, Justice Mohammed refused to grant the request to stop Kyari’s arrest and extradition through ex parte means. Arsenal have confirmed the £30million signing of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.  Manager Mikel Arteta decided to bring back the Norwegian playmaker who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium. He impressed in his 20 appearances for the Gunners, scoring twice and setting up two further goals.
