The Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed banks to publish the names and Bank Verification Numbers BVN of its customers who default on its Forex policy. In a circulate to banks dated Monday, August 30th, the apex bank lamented that it has “received and noted with concern reports of sharp practices by some unscrupulous customers to circumvent the new CBN policy on the sale of forex for overseas personal and business travel”. The bank said some of the unwholesome practices of some customers include “include the use of fake visas and cancellation of air tickets after purchase of PTA/BTA”. Haruna B. Mustafa Director Banking Supervision Department of the CBN, who signed the circular, noted: “this trend, if not curbed, portends risk to the integrity and stability of the forex market”. A teenage girl has died after being electrocuted when her home was struck by lightning while she was using her mobile phone as it charged. Radja Ferreira de Oliveira’s phone was plugged into the mains at her house in Santarem, Brazil, when it was hit by lightning in the early hours of Sunday. At the moment it struck, the 18-year-old was using the device, and she received a severe electric shock and passed out. Emergency services were called, but by the time the paramedics arrived on the scene, her family had already given her first aid and rushed her to hospital. Sadly, Radja was pronounced dead on arrival.

Italy striker, Moise Kean has returned to Juventus on loan from Everton for the next two seasons. The striker spent last season on loan at Juventus and returned back to Everton this summer but he has been deemed surplus to requirements by Everton Manager, Rafa Benitez. Juventus on Tuesday morning, August 31, confirmed Kean's arrival in an official statement, which reads: "Juventus Football Club announces that it has reached an agreement with Everton Football Club for the acquisition, on a temporary basis until 30 June 2023, of the registration rights of the player Moise Bioty Kean."  

A woman has been stabbed to death in a busy street in Baghdad after reportedly refusing to marry her cousin in an arranged marriage. Nourzan Al-Shammari was brutally murdered in broad daylight while she was walking home from work, sparking anger across Iraq after footage of the crime was shared on social media. A final year Hospitality Management student of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Faith Favour, has died after her signing-out celebration.  Faith had shared a photo of herself and coursemates from their signing out celebration two weeks ago.  One of her coursemates, Mhister Isaac disclosed the sad news on Facebook on Monday, August 30 but didn't give details.  "Faith i can't believe you are gone. With all the stress and difficulties we went through, u can't even wait to finish your project or see your last result. Dead why....? Hmm. Faith #HOMSA love you but God love's you most. May your gentle soul Rest In Perfect Peace" he wrote.   

The Department of State Services DSS has released eight of the 12 associates of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, after 61 days in custody.   The associates were arrested on July 1 after the DSS carried out a raid on Igboho's Ibadan home. The secret police released the eight detainees on Monday afternoon, August 30, but held on to four others.     Confirming their release to newsmen at a press conference, their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said that the remaining four of his clients must be freed because they had been granted bail by the court. Operatives of the Delta Police Command have arrested two suspected drug dealers including a 29-year-old woman with large quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.  Acting spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 30, said the suspect, Oghogho Joseph, was arrested along with one Cyril Enishoke, in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.  "On 28/8/2021, the command Crack squad raided criminal hideout in Ozoro community where two suspects namely Cyril Enishoke ‘m’ age 20yrs and Oghogho Joseph ‘f’ age 29yrs were arrested and large quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered from them. Investigation is ongoing." the spokesman stated.

A close aide of Osama bin Laden has returned to his home in Afghanistan after 20 years following the Taliban takeover. Amin ul-Haq, a top Al Qaeda arms supplier, returned to his hometown in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Monday August 30, just over two weeks after the Taliban took over nearly all of the country. Ul-Haq headed bin Laden's security when he was occupying the Tora Bora cave complex. The two men escaped together when US forces attacked the complex, according to NBC.   The Al Qaeda leader was killed by US forces in Pakistan in 2011.     In the video, a car carrying ul-Haq is seen driving through a checkpoint.  At one point the car stops and ul-Haq rolls down the window to pose for selfies with some Afghans. Taliban fighters fired their guns into the air in celebration in Kabul as the last US troops left Afghanistan nearly twenty years after it arrived the country following the September 11, 2001 attacks on America. Marine General Frank McKenzie, the head of the US Central Command, made the withdrawal announcement at a Pentagon news briefing on Monday, August 30, after the last troops sent to evacuate Americans and Afghans at risk following the Taliban’s return to power flew out of the capital Kabul. "I’m here to announce the completion of our withdrawal from Afghanistan and the end of the military mission to evacuate American citizens," McKenzie said. The United Nations have told the Taliban that they must grant safe passage for those fleeing Afghanistan after the final US troops left the country. The new Taliban regime in Afghanistan is facing international pressure to respect human rights following the passage of a UN Security Council resolution. The council adopted a resolution in New York with Russia, China and the UK hopes is a step towards a unified international response. Arsenal have confirmed the club have mutually terminated Willian's contract after his 12-months stay at the club.  The Brazilian joined Mikel Arteta's side on a free transfer last summer but struggled in 2020-21 season, scoring only one goal in 37 appearances. Arsenal have been looking to offload Willian this summer and Corinthians have been interested in ending his Gunners nightmare.  But his wages, believed to be more than £220,000 per week was one of the frustrating issues in negotiations. A 20-year-old South African woman has given birth to a baby with a rare condition called progeria, a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly. Progeria, also known as Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS) is caused by a mutation (change) in the lamin (LMNA) gene.  The woman from Libode in Eastern Cape, delivered the baby girl at home two months ago. Local mid-wives including the baby's grandmother noticed that she exhibited signs that were different from most babies. Her hands are deformed and her skin was wrinkled. She is currently in hospital with her mother. "When she was in labour we called an ambulance but it took long to come. So she gave birth here at home. But the delivery got complicated and we hired a van to take her to hospital," the grandmother said. "We were told there that she’s disabled. I noticed during her birth that there was something strange with her. She did not cry and she was breathing through the ribs....

Another woman fleeing Afghanistan for the United Kingdom gave birth to a baby girl during a Turkish Airlines flight, according to reports. Soman Noori, 26, began having contractions as the plane was midway between Dubai and Birmingham With no doctor aboard, Turkish Airlines staff assisted the mother through labor, which took place in Kuwaiti airspace. It was the third child for Noori and husband Taj Moh Hammat, who named their baby Havva, which translates to Eve, the Evening Standard reported. The plane carried Afghans who worked with the UK, according to Reuters.

A suspected narcotic trafficker, Ibeh Ejike, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after allegedly ingesting 87 wraps of cocaine. According to the NDLEA, the 41-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, upon his arrival on board an Ethiopian airline flight 911 from Kigali via Addis Ababa. A statement in Abuja on Sunday by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said Ejike was taken in for secondary check during which he tested positive for ingestion of an illicit substance. He said while under observation, he excreted 87 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.884 kilogrammes. Nigerian singer Burna Boy has taken to Twitter to brag about his achievements in life after he successfully sold out his London concert. The singer, who once left Twitter after being attacked by Nigerians who accused him of being arrogant, held a concert at the O2 arena in London. However, after the concert, he took to his Instagram Stories to write to say that Twitter isn’t real life adding that he always wins in real life. “I sold out the O2 by myself.   Two female siblings have been killed by lightning in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun council of Osun State The Nation gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday around 4:30 pm in the Ogo-Oluwa area of the community. A resident, Mary Ojuolape said the siblings were crossing a field in the area during a drizzle when they were struck. She said, “They were crossing a school football field around the Ogo-Oluwa area when they were struck down by lightning.” Another resident named Dayo said there was a great crowd that gathered around the bodies of the two siblings. “I don’t know their names but they were siblings. The incident is sad and the entire community is sad over the incident.”

A 20-year-old student has died of horrific injuries after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs. Simona Cavallaro and her boyfriend had just finished a picnic with a group of friends in Satriano, Italy, when they decided to go for a stroll through the woods, local news sites Agi reported. However, the couple were attacked as they passed through a densely wooded area and Miss Cavallaro's boyfriend escaped while she was mauled by the dogs.     Her boyfriend, who hasn't been named, managed to hide from the pack of dogs in an abandoned shack before alerting the local authorities with a phone call, according to The Sun. By the time emergency services arrived at the scene, Miss Cavallaro had injuries on every part of her body.
