NIS postpones passport application

 

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has announced a new date for the application of passport.

According to the NIS, applications for passports will now commence on June 8 as against the earlier scheduled date of June 1.

A statement from the new spokesman of the Service Amos Okpu confirmed the decision of the comptroller general in Abuja on Tuesday.

The NIS explained that issuing centres are being congested by crowds who want to collect their passport, noting that the surge was making compliance to COVID-19 protocols difficult.

The federal government had last month announced the suspension of issuance of passports.

New CIA document reveals Osama bin Laden was plotting terror attack on Britain before 9/11

  Newly declassified CIA documents show that US intelligence officials believed Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were considering attacks on the United Kingdom several years before the September 11, 2001, attacks. The documents were released by the CIA to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and include intelligence assessments dating from the late 1990s. Among them is an August 28, 1998, briefing titled “Bin Ladin Terrorist Network Still a Threat”, which indicated that bin Laden was considering further attacks against both the United States and the UK.
