    Tension has gripped the people of Oka Akoko in Ondo State following the gruesome murder of a 43-year-old security guard in the community by suspected ritualists.  The guard, Rotimi Olukoju, who worked with a microfinance bank in the town, was found dead on Thursday evening by some residents in a bush path.  Several residents told SaharaReporters that Olokoju was murdered on his way to the farm in the Iwaro area of Oka Akoko of the agrarian community.  They confirmed that Mr Olukoju was beheaded by the suspects while vital organs of his body were also removed and taken away.  According to them, the frightening incident has sent panic across the community. A family member of the late Olukoju, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Friday morning, said his corpse had been taken to the mortuary by the police.   A powerful earthquake struck off Turkey's Aegean coast and north of the Greek island of Samos, as well as the capital Athens on Friday, October 30th.  The tremor of 7.0 magnitude was centered off Turkey's Izmir province and it was felt as far away as Athens and Istanbul, US Geological Survey (USGS) said    Shortly after the earthquake hit, Turkish officials said at least 6 buildings collapsed in the western Turkish city of Izmir. Atleast 12 people died and 400 injured. Greek media said residents of Samos and other islands fled their homes, while some rockfalls were reported.   See more photos    

  Ahmad Ahmad, the president of the Confederation of African Football has tested positive for coronavirus.  "This morning, I've been declared positive to Covid19. I have mild symptoms, but I'm well," he wrote on his Twitter account on Friday, October 30.  According to the Press Release from the football body on Friday, after his arrival in Cairo on Wednesday, October 28, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, presented mild flu symptoms, and submitted to the COVID-19 protocol. He tested positive on Friday. A CAF press release said Ahmad, who arrived in Cairo on Wednesday, October 28, for the Confederation Cup final holding in Morroco on Sunday, presented mild flu symptoms. He underwent a test on Thursday and it came back positive on Friday. "The President (will) immediately self-isolate for at least the next 14 days at his hotel," said the press release.   A man, Marek Slepcik stripped a drunk 11-year-old girl naked, raped her and left her crying back in 2016 before his parents helped him flee to Slovakia, Liverpool Crown Court has heard. Slepcik who was 16 as at the time of the attack in 2016 was arrested days heinous crime and had his passport seized by police officers before he was bailed. In court documents it was revealed that Slepcik applied for emergency travel documents through his mother, claiming he had lost his passport. After he got the passport he then left the UK and went to Slovakia, where he remained until a European Arrest Warrant extradited him back to the UK on July 27, having spent 145 days in jail.   Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again relaxed the curfew he imposed in Lagos state in the wake of the #EndSARS crisis which led to the destruction of properties.  The curfew which was formerly between 8pm to 6am, will now take effect from 10pm till 6am. The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday October 30, by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso.  Governor Sanwo-Olu urged all residents to go about their businesses in peace, even as they shun "actions that can threaten our unity.”  

  A cathedral in London has held a memorial service for its celebrity cat named Doorkins Magnificat that recently died, 12 years after strolling into the church premises as a stray cat. During her twelve year stay in Southwark Cathedral, the cat reached celebrity status: meeting the Queen, starring in a children’s book and having her own social media accounts. The memorial ceremony was done on Wednesday October 28, a month after her death, after suffering a stroke.   The thanksgiving service was held under the cathedral’s Gothic arches before she was laid to rest in the churchyard. Andrew Nunn, the dean, told the congregation. “In more normal times, we often host memorial services for the great and the good. Africa’s richest woman, Isabel dos Santos’s husband, Sindika Dokolo has died at the age of 48. According to a tweet by Africa Facts Zone, the Congolese businessman and art collector died in a diving accident in Dubai on Thursday, October 29.         Isabel dos Santos,47, later shared a photo with Dokolo and their youngest son on Twitter without a caption. The comment session was flooded with heartfelt messages.  The news of his death was officially confirmed by Michée Mulumba of the Congolese president’s office, Felix Tshisekedi.  Prior to his death, Dokolo and his billionaire wife Isabel, the daughter of Jose Eduardo dos Santos who ruled Angola for 38 years until 2017, were being investigated over a $1.136 billion mismanagement of state funds.     A 67-year-old man, Abraham Olayinka, has been rescued after jumping into Asa River on Abdulwahab Folawiyo, Unity Road, Ilorin, Kwara State. Punch Metro gathered that the incident occurred around 11.30am on Monday. Traders within the vicinity, who saw him jump into the river, reportedly drew the attention of security men around the area to the incident. A commercial motorcyclist, Mohammad Abubakar, in response to the call for help, jumped into the river together with some fishermen. They were said to have rescued the victim from the river. The Head of Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, who said the victim was rescued before firemen arrived at the scene, said Olayinka was unstable when he was first brought out from the water. He, however, said the sexagenarian was revived and taken to a hospital where he was stabilised.   Oh dear! Nigerians on social media have called for the arrest of Lagos lawmaker, Mojisola Alli-Macauley for allegedly using CA-COVID palliatives as her birthday souvenir. Shortly after the OAP made the announcement on social media, some doubted if she is really infected and said she must have been paid by the Government to make the announcement.     A total of 1,355,203 persons have been tested for HIV in Akwa Ibom between April and October this year. The Deputy Director Technical, Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services (SIDHAS), Dr Pius Nwaokoro stated this on Thursday in Uyo during an interaction with some media representatives on HIV treatment surge. He said the state has achieved 90 percent HIV/AIDS viral suppression rate and successfully controlled the epidemic in seven local government areas including, Uyo, Mbo, Okobo, Eastern Obolo, and Ibeno. Nwaokoro who revealed that 65,185 people in the state are HIV positive noted that the result was based on 10 years of consistent testing and counselling carried out in 21 local government areas of the state. 

  No fewer than 72 members of a Nigerian mafia organisation in Italy, including their leader, 50-year-old Emmanuel Okenwa aka ‘Boogye’, have been arrested. The operation was carried out by more than 200 Italian policemen in Turin and Ferrara. Italian newspaper ANSA said Police made dozens of arrests against the Nigerian mafia organization called Arobaga Vikings or Norsemen Kclub International. It is organized into local cells called Decks and present in many Italian cities. National leaders of the mafia, which deals mainly in p.r.o.s t.i.u.t.i.o.n and drug trafficking were arrested.   A Nigerian and a Kenyan national have been arrested in India for allegedly duping people of million of rupees by cloning their ATM cards.     The accused identified as Omon Benson from Nigeria and Jonson Usaro from Kenya were arrested by police in Noida on Wednesday, October 28. The Noida Police said it also unearthed their links with hawala traders operating  in the National Capital Region (NCR).     According to officials, Benson and Usaro have been active in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad for the last 10 years during which they cloned several cards and illegally withdrew money from ATMs. "The duo was held by the Cyber Cell, which recovered 96 ATM cards, two card-cloning modules, two laptops, seven mobile phones, two pin-hole cameras, 17 sheets of debit card data, Rs 10,000 cash, among others, from them," a police spokesperson said on Thursday.     Additional Deputy Comm...

  Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, and his girlfriend, British rapper Stefflon Don have unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking breakup rumors.  A check on their Instagram pages shows that the couple who have been dating for over a year, no longer follow each other.     

  Desmond Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency in the Lagos state house of assembly has turned off the comment section of his Instagram handle.  This is coming after he was called out by Nigerians including his former colleagues in the entertainment industry over his comment about social media during a plenary at the house.  A video of Desmond's statement at the House of Assembly which has now been made public, showed him calling on the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly to "address certain things" like "the Nigerian youth, the social media, the social influencers." He added "All of these are making the narratives that we are seeing today. Except we're joking with ourselves. Social media, though good, has its negative impacts."
