A 27-year old man, Fredrick Nicole has been confined to a hospital bed after he was attacked and seriously injured by a 30-year old lover suspected to be making love to his mom in their home in Lagos State, western Nigeria. He was brutally wounded by the attacker known as Ismaila Ibrahim and one of his hands got broken during the fracas that ensued between them. The incident happened at their residence located at Idimu road in Ejigbo at about 4 p.m. on 9 February, 2016.

Holly Nicholson died after getting into trouble in rough water at Williamson's Beach, Australia when she went to rescue her younger brother on Thursday, February 11. Nicholson's 11-year-old brother was swimming at the beach in Dalyston just after 8:00 when he got into trouble in rough water. He was rescued from the water and taken to hospital with minor injuries. But Holly found herself in difficulties and later died despite efforts by her family and emergency services to save her.

  A Cameroonian Military officer identified as Captain Yari, pictured above, was killed during a gun battle to capture an explosives factory in Goshi, Yobe state from Boko Haram yesterday February 11th. 27 Boko Haram members were killed during the operation. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has called for the arrest of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, saying this is possible because the governor rigged the June 21, 2014 Ekiti governorship election. A statement by Falana’s organisation, Value and Integrity Group, on Thursday, said Fayose should be tried for the ‘political malfeasance that characterised the Ekiti governorship election’.

  The Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC, has rejected the February 3rd Supreme Court verdict that upheld the election of the state governor, Emmanuel Udom of PDP. In a communique issued by the party after a rally held at Nsima Ekere field along Edet Akpan Archibong road and signed by the state Chairman of the party, Amadu Attai yesterday February 11th, the party called on President Buhari to set up a panel of inquiry over the verdict which according to them was procured through huge financial inducements.

  A 32 year old woman walked into a police station claiming to have been raped - clutching her alleged attackers pen*s. The woman told officers she had been repeatedly raped by her brother-in-law for days. She alleged on the final occasion, she faked consent and sliced off his genitals with a sickle, the Times of India reported.

Strapped with a booby-trapped vest and sent by Boko Haram to kill as many people as possible, the young teenage girl tore off the explosives and fled as soon as she was out of sight of her handlers. Her two companions, however, completed their grisly mission and walked into a crowd of hundreds at Dikwa refugee camp in northeast Nigeria and blew themselves up, killing 58 people.

  Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun told Senate Committee on Finance that the 23,000 ghost workers discovered in the Federal Civil Service would be handed over to EFCC. Adeosun, who made the revelation when she appeared before the committee, said banks that connived with the workers to pad the Federal government payroll are also going to be prosecuted. "We will not only sack them, we will ensure the recovery of the money they have been collecting over the years from the Federal government." she said.
