  22-year-old Oluwadamilare Baiyewu pictured above has been sentenced to 24 years imprisonment by a Woolwich Crown Court in the UK for raping a 17 year old girl while trying to attack another on December 2nd last year. Described as a ‘dangerous, calculating and predatory rapist’ who created the image he was the ‘pillar of the community’ by helping out at the church.

  For a couple of days Davido has been teasing a major announcement of social media especially on his Snapchat and Twitter. The announcement has been made and the 23-year-old star has just signed a lucrative deal with Sony BMG Music for a whooping $1 Million. While the details of the deal haven’t been revealed yet, it is definitely worth celebrating.

  The leading candidate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra Central Senatorial District inconclusive primaries, Senator Uche Ekwunife has urged her supporters to be calm and wait for the decision of the party. The party primary election which was between Ekwunife and the pioneer Woman Leader of the party, Bar. Sharon Ikeazor ended inconclusively Wednesday night with three out of the seven local governments that made up the zone yet to vote. At the end of the voting by four local governments, Awka South, Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha, Ekwunife was said to be leading with 284 votes against Ikeazor’s 35. As at press time yesterday, delegates from Awka North, Idemili North and South were still waiting at the venue of the primary election to commence their own voting, though the officials were allegedly said to have returned to Abuja.

  The arrest of 22 commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada riders in Oleh, Isoko South council of Delta State by security agents for protesting against increase in their daily operational tickets from N70.00 to N150.00 is causing more trouble. Women in the community numbering over one thousand yesterday rose in defense of the Okada riders as they abandoned their daily activities to demonstrate across the town, demanding for the release of the detainees.

  Felix Obuah, the chairman of the Rivers state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, has invited Rotimi Amaechi, the ex-governor of the state, and Dakuku Peterside, the All Progressives Congress candidate in governorship election, to a facility tour of the new Rivers state under Governor Nyesom Wike.

  The 47 year old actor broke his silence as he poured out his heart in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. He revealed his wife Jada did not consult him before releasing video calling for boycott of the Oscars, but admitted she may have been motivated by his Oscar snub and that either ways she would still have made the video.

  Earlier today, singer Tiwa Savage took to her Instagram page to celebrate actress Mercy Johnson's trimmed look after one month of giving birth. An elated Mercy some moments ago took to her Instagram page to thank Tiwa and shared this photo above. 

  The cause of the fire which started around 12.15 pm is not known but according to eye witnesses, the fire started from the company’s service centre. As at the time of filing this report, the building was still in flames as customers and staff of the company scampered away for their lives packing goods from the building. The Lagos state fire service men arrived the scene at 1.07 pm. However, no casualties have been reported, as the fire outbreak has led to heavy gridlock in the area.   The university workers, represented by the Association of Resident of Staff Quarters, CRUTECH, Calabar campus, made their anger known in a letter delivered to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh. The furious employees, accompanies by students living in university accommodation, said they had become regular victims of robbery attacks. Different placards were displayed by the workers with inscriptions such as, ‘No future for development in CRUTECH,’ ‘Our gates must no longer be used as an access to any community,’ and ‘CRUTECH in the midst of illegal community among others.

  Beautiful 25 year old Doyin Sarah Fagbenro who recently completed her First and Second degrees in Law in the UK and relocated to Nigeria after spending most of her life there, died in a fatal accident along Lekki-Epe expressway in Lagos which was caused by a reckless Danfo driver. Her cousin, Ken Davidson, took to his Facebook page to pay her a heartfelt tribute. It's such a sad read. Read after the cut. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

  The leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was transferred to the Kuje Prison in Abuja in the early hour of today, Daily Sun can authoritatively report. The transferred was line with the decision of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which ordered that the detained IPOB leader be released from the shackles of the Department of State Security (DSS) and moved to the Kuje prisons.

  British-Nigerian rapper Tinie Tempah is still very much in Lagos and having a good time while at it. He was spotted out and about with his friend and music star Wizkid as well as Seyi Shay.   The Zamfara state Governor Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, was accused by two publications – City People and The Polity of dating Zahra, the 21 year-old daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari. They also claimed the Governor, who is Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, gifted her a whopping $200 million.

  Suspected masterminds of the October 2015 Nyanya and Kuje bomb blast which left 20 people dead and several others seriously injured were arraigned before a Federal High Court today, Thursday, January 21 in Abuja. The five masterminds identified as Abdulazeez Muhazab, Ishiaku Salihu, Mohammed Jimoh, Abdulazeez Nasiru and Abdullahi Nasiru were arraigned on a five countcharge of conspirarcy to carry out a bomb attack utilizing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), resulting in the death of scores of people.   Hmmmm.....Endtime. A man believed to be a Pastor was caught at Umuika Okwu Olokoro in Umuahia trying to bury prepared charms on a land meant to be used for a crusade tomorrow in the community. Residents however got hold of the move and apprehended him. The man later confessed he was sent by a Popular Pastor known as Chibuike who is meant to hold the crusade, to come and bury the charms there. He was then forced to burn them before they let him go.   Singer Tiwa Savage who is also a new mom, shared this photo of Mercy Johnson Okojie to celebrate her for looking trim one month after giving birth to her third child. She also gave a word of advise to new moms who want to look trim after giving birth. She wrote:

The Saudi Civil Defence team rescued an Asian maid who threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of a building in a residential area in Riyadh, Arabic daily Sabq reports. The maid, who is employed by a Syrian family, managed to reach on to the window AC panel on the outer side of wall and then threatened to commit suicide.  The rescue team rushed to the residential tower in Al-Maadhar district and persuaded the woman not to jump after they took her into confidence . The police has launched an inquiry into the incident.

  PDP spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh was dragged to another court hearing today Jan. 21 in handcuffs. He's reportedly being arraigned for destroying EFCC evidence. Metuh allegedly tore his written statement on Jan. 14th.  The PDP and human rights groups had kicked against his handcuffing describing it as a ploy to mortify the opposition spokesman, saying that his case does not border on security threat.   Former Super Eagles coach, Daniel Amokachi, has secured a one-year deal to coach JS Hercules of Finland. A position which is required to take effect immediately. The Finnish second division side, on their official website on Wednesday Jan. 20th, announced the hiring of former Super Eagles player, Amokachi as its new coach and the re-organization in their technical crew.

  Hollywood stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube paid a visit to the Etihad stadium in Manchester, home to Manchester city players yesterday after receiving an invitation from the club. Rapper/actor Ice Cube and Kevin Hart and have been in the UK to promote their latest box office comedy, Ride Along 2, the sequel to their first film, with Hart also performing a stand-up show for the players on Wednesday evening.   Ten pro-Biafran protesters arrested between January 16-18 were on Wednesday Jan. 21st arraigned in court by the Rivers State Police Command. Onu Ifeanyi, Prince Onwazor, Princewill Anyanywu, Sunday Egbim and Uzoma Onyegbu, Chigozie Moses, Chukwudi Enyidau, Anthony Ochuel, Enam David Okon and Friady Nwahiri were arraigned at Magistrates’ Courts 7 and 14 in Port Harcourt on two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and treasonable felony.
