  Former Akwa Ibom state governor and Senator, Godswill Akpabio, has asked the Federal government to seize any money in any foreign account that is traced to him. Akpabio said this in a statement he released today through his spokesperson, Anietie Ekong. He released the statement to debunk a newspaper report that he had made a secret attempt to withdraw $7.2 billion from banks in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, through channels in the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Internment was at Baptist Primary school field Obinze. She was the first female majority leader of the IMO house of assembly. She died on 18th December, 2015 from complications of kidney transplant 

  A young man disguised as a woman was accosted trying to gain access into a construction site in Sosiani, Eldoret by security guards. The guards, according to Standard Digital 'initially marveled at her beauty' only to realise on close scrutiny that he was a fake.

  Nigeria's star at the FIFA U-17 tournament last year, Victor Osimhen, has agreed to join top German club VFL Wolfsburg, FIFA has confirmed. Wolfsburg confirmed that FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 adidas Golden Shoe winner will join the club next year. Osimhen scored a staggering 10 goals in 7 appearances at the tournament in Chile leading to interests from Arsenal, Wolfsburg, FC Porto and top European clubs.

  This happened on Oriyomi street in Ikeja this morning. The two Keke Marwa and other Kekes were moving along this street when the wooden electrical pole landed on two of them.   Few weeks after a Nigerian grandfather Sampson Omogbo and his wife Carolyn, died in a house-fire alongside their 2 year old twin grand children at their home in USA (Read here ), another Nigerian family, 26 year old Jeremiah Owojori, his pregnant wife Ashley, their 5 year old son and seven month old son all died in a tragic fire incident at their home at 201 Coleman Str. in West Monroe, Louisiana, USA. The sad incident took place on Sunday January 24th.

7-month-old Inganathi Mnyani died after her mother's ex-boyfriend, Zukile Nakupi, allegedly flung her against the ceiling, walls and prepaid electricity meter of her mother's Philippi home on Monday, January 25, killing her. (Photo: Family members carry her body from the mortuary to the family’s house in Philippi, Cape Town on Tuesday for burial)  Andisiwe and ex-boyfriend, Nakupi allegedly started arguing after she woke up to feed the baby in the early hours of the morning. He reportedly jumped on Inganathi's body, despite attempts from her seven-year-old sister to protect her. The infant died at the scene.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off an estate which is said to be owned by the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Azubuike Ihejirika. The beautiful estate located along Jabi Airport road junction, Abuja was sealed off on Wednesday, January 27 amid heavy security.  The eyewitness who took the photos was reportedly manhandled by the operatives.

  Rivers State government has called on the Minister for Transport and former Rivers State governor, Chibuike Amaechi, to account for about N3 trillion he received throughout his eight years tenure as the governor of the State. Speaking to media aides in Port Harcourt yesterday January 28th, the State Commissioner for Information, Tam George said the State was still reeling from “the catastrophic legacy of the former governor” despite receiving over three trillion naira in revenue in 8 years.

  31 year old Danielle Whyte had given birth to her baby boy just seven weeks before he was allegedly murdered at the hands of the most unsuspecting suspect - his own father. 51-year-old Jose Feliciano was allegedly jealous of baby Mason for commanding the attention of Whyte. On Dec. 10, police say Feliciano grew angry after hearing Mason crying and yelled at him in his room to stop crying but the infant kept crying, shortly after, Whtye heard ‘several loud bangs.’

  Fire on Thursday evening gutted an MRS filling station and two buildings in Lawanson, Surulere Local Government Area, Lagos. The fire destroyed two houses and few shops before the arrival of men of the Lagos State Fire Service. One of the houses, a storey building beside the filling station, was completely burnt down. Johnson Okorie, a phone operator in the area, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the tanker was discharging petrol in the filling station around 5p.m when it exploded and started the fire.

Basketball Star Nate Robinson played in the NBA for a decade. He played for top teams including New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Denver Nuggets.   When Ronald Jackson found a text he thought was rude and inappropriate on his then-12-year-old daughter’s phone in September 2013, he took the cell away. But the child’s mother, Michelle Steppe, got mad at his action and she called the police.   WFAA reported that the 36-year-old, who hails from Grande Prairie, Texas, had been charged with theft of property of at least $50 but under $500 after confiscating his daughter’s iPhone 4 when he found an inappropriate text in September 2013.

Detectives are investigating a possible link between a body found on Tuesday, January 26, in bushes in Billing Brook Road link to a man who disappeared after an apparent altercation in Sept. 2013. According to Sky News, detectives are looking into the disappearance of a Nigerian man Adeyemi Olugbuyi, in 2013 but have not yet identified the remains.

  A woman was viciously attacked by a thief after she tried to warn an aged pensioner that she was about to be robbed. The man turned to the lady and shockingly punched, kicked and spat on the woman, in the presence of her young kids.

  Singer R.Kelly who in 2008 was found not guilty on 14 charges in a child pornography court case has revealed that he was sexually abused by a female relative at a young age. R.Kelly said that the abuse began when he was just 8 and continued up until his teenage years and the experience made him to start feeling horny and sexually active from a young age...

  Grieving Celine Dion was seen crying as she and others paid their final respect to her late husband, René Angélil at open casket visitation at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal yesterday Thursday Jan. 21st. Angélil died of throat cancer at the age of 73 on Jan. 14. Celine Dion announced that a national funeral for Angélil will be held today at the basilica and will be televised.   A Ghanaian lady identified as Elizabeth Owusu Ansah was beaten by the recruitment office that brought her to Jeleeb, Kuwait. Elizabeth was seriously sick but the office thought she was lying. She was beaten and sacked from the office. They even threatened to report her to the police for being sick.

  The federal government has decried the way and manner Nigerians, especially women, are being treated in their bid to comply with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) directive on the registration of the subscriber identification module (SIM) in use, threatening to deal with erring telecom companies henceforth. A statement by the special assistant on media to the minister of communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, Mr Victor Oluwadamilar, said that this has become necessary, following the barrage of compliants by telecoms subscribers across the country.

  Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison but is unlikely to ever serve time in jail, after a verdict was reached in his tax evasion case. The Argentine has been fined €815,000 and handed a year's sentence for two counts of fiscal crimes committed in 2011 and 2012. Mascherano has previously admitted to the offences, repaid the money owed and paid a hefty fine as recompense.

  A young lottery winner has been murdered during a robbery at his home. Craigory Burch Jr, 20, scooped almost half a million dollars in the Georgia state lottery Fatasy5 draw in November. On Thursday night, armed raiders broken into Burch's home, where he was with his girlfriend and children, WALB reported. The three masked robbers burst into the property and held Burch at gunpoint and demanded his wallet, girlfriend Jasmine Hendricks said.

A woman and three of her accomplices, were on Thursday, January 21 found guilty of killing her eight year-old step-daughter and sentenced to death by hanging. Elenah Nyambura (pictured at Milimani law courts, Kenya with her accomplice) was charged with committing the offence at Civil Servants Estate in Kariobangi, with Peris Njeri, Geoffrey Njuguna and Kenneth Muriithi. The court heard that Nyambura murdered Sheilah Wanjiku to win back her estranged husband Peter Kamau. The four had confessed to killing Wanjiku but later objected to the admissions, saying they had been coerced and threatened into signing statements prepared in advance.  

  It's official! Mariah Carey is engaged to her Australian billionaire businessman boyfriend, James Parker after a fairy tale romance. Mariah's future hubby popped the big question in her hometown a couple of hours ago, and he presented her with what can only be described as the most breathtaking engagement ring.

  A former Las Vegas area church pastor who became an international fugitive on accusations that he sexually assaulted girls as young as 7 in his congregation has been found guilty. A Clark County District Court jury on Thursday found Otis Holland, 59, guilty of 17 felony charges, including child sexual assault, lewdness, conspiracy to destroy evidence and bribing a witness. He faces life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for March 16.

A NHS psychiatrist in the UK Dr Julius Awakame, 50, has been sacked after he advised a patient to get help from TB Joshua's 24-hour church TV channel, Emmanuel TV because she might be possessed by demonic 'special forces'.

  22-year-old Oluwadamilare Baiyewu pictured above has been sentenced to 24 years imprisonment by a Woolwich Crown Court in the UK for raping a 17 year old girl while trying to attack another on December 2nd last year. Described as a ‘dangerous, calculating and predatory rapist’ who created the image he was the ‘pillar of the community’ by helping out at the church.
