  12 year old Adetayo Adefarasin, a student of Government Junior College, Epe, suffered severe burns to her face, chest, arm and legs after a faulty transformer exploded along Broad street, Lagos as she was trying to board a bus while returning from church on September 20th. She was rushed to General Hospital, Lagos where she’s still receiving treatment for her severe injury. The faulty transformer was repaired two days after this incident but according to girl’s family, PHCN have not made any attempt to help the girl who is still in hospital. Friends say she is a brilliant student and was looking forward to a great future. The family want to sue PHCN over the incident I hear but haven’t done so yet. The carelessness of these people is worrisome. They don’t do anything until someone gets killed or injured. See more pics after the cut.............

With less than 1 day to the deadline for Bank Verification Number, BVN, about 26 million account holders still haven’t registered to protect their money. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has said no extension would be granted after the deadline expires and customers who still haven’t registered will have no access to their money or any transaction in their account. According to CBN, the registration window will still be open after tomorrow, but unregistered customers will not be granted access to their accounts.

  The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the confirmation of all the ministerial nominees by the Senate, despite some misgivings by the opposition, has shown that the party’s legislators are ready to work with the executive toward the implementation of its agenda for the benefit of all Nigerians. The APC added that the confirmation had revealed that there is no longer any division within the APC family. “The cohesion and unity exhibited by the APC Senators on Thursday have shown that our legislators are ready to work with the executive and the party to ensure that the agenda of the party is implemented for the benefit of all Nigerians,’” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Female soldiers serving at Guantanamo Bay are not being allowed to transport inmates following a court order issued in response to prisoners who complained on religious grounds, according to US Republican senators who recently returned from a visit to the prison camp. Inmates apparently complained that female soldiers' actions were an insult to their Islamic faith, but the senators blasted the court's decision as an "insult to women."
