Police in Houston, Texas are investigating the mysterious and
tragic circumstances in which a 19-month old baby girl was found dead
by the oven, covered in burns.
The mother had apparently left her alone, with her 3 young siblings
(all under the age of 5), as she went to work on Monday night.
Although she did say that she left her boyfriend in-charge, there was no one with the children when they were found.
Emergency responders who arrived at the scene found baby J’zyra dead, near the oven.
It’s unclear whether she had been in the oven or on top of the stove.
The mother’s three surviving children were placed in protective custody.
Neighbours in the apartment complex said that they often saw the children left home alone.
“With just a Pamper on, no shirt, no shoes or nothing,” neighbour Miranda Oneil Johnson said.
