When Karen Gilbert found out that she was pregnant with
extremely rare identical triplets, she was stunned and delighted. But
doctors took a different view of her one-in-200 million pregnancy. They
twice gave her an advise to terminate it, because of the three foetuses
could take each other’s fluid and space and might not survive. But Mrs
Gilbert and her husband Ian decided to save their three little girls. At
last, Ffion, Maddison and Paige were born two months early on August 2.
The couple from Pontypool, Wales, also have an older daughter Faye,
aged three.
