The United State Department of Justice has announced charges against 16 individuals, including three Nigerians, in connection with illegal voting, illegal voter registration, and related election-fraud schemes across the country.  This was announced in a press release issued on Friday, September 18, 2026. The charges include unlawful voting by non-citizens in federal elections, false claims of citizenship to register or vote, and related offenses including wire fraud, naturalization fraud, passport fraud, and unlawful firearm purchases uncovered during the course of these investigations.   A Nigerian national, Helen Sayen Adams, 67, a lawful permanent resident since May 2024, was charged with Voting by an Alien in a Federal Election and False Statement of Citizenship in Order to Register to Vote   Another Nigerian national, Joshua Nmelichukwu Akpom, 27, a lawful permanent resident since 2016, has been charged with false statements in relation to naturalization.   ...

  United States President Donald Trump has barred CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, alleging propaganda by the major news networks and website.   Trump accused the outlets of reporting “fake news” about his administration, stating they “shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report fiction or lies” when covering the President.   In a statement via his social media platform TruthSocial, the President indicated that other “fake” media organizations would face a similar ban.     Trump claimed Politico received “an illegal and ridiculous $8 million subscription” from the U.S. Government under former President Joe Biden “in order to keep them alive”.       During a presser in the Oval Office, Trump defended his decision when a reporter reminded him that every President takes an oath to uphold the Constitution.     “You get so tired of reading and seeing fake news…there may be others to join them,” the U.S. leader hin...

  The US war with Iran has cost $45.1 billion, the Pentagon informed Congress on Friday, according to two sources familiar with the matter.   The department told lawmakers that war costs were $43.6 billion as of September 3 plus an additional $1.5 billion for extra fuel, the sources added.   The estimate is not a full accounting of the war’s cost, however.   It does not include an assessment of the cost to repair damaged bases or buildings and did not provide Congress with detailed breakdowns of indirect costs of military operations as lawmakers have asked for, one source said.       The $45.1 billion cost estimate from the Pentagon surpasses the $38 billion price tag the Congressional Budget Office projected the war cost through August 1, and comes after the Pentagon estimated $37.5 billion as the bill for the war in July.       The estimate from the budget office also did not include the cost to repair US facilities damaged d...

  Newly declassified CIA documents show that US intelligence officials believed Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were considering attacks on the United Kingdom several years before the September 11, 2001, attacks. The documents were released by the CIA to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and include intelligence assessments dating from the late 1990s. Among them is an August 28, 1998, briefing titled “Bin Ladin Terrorist Network Still a Threat”, which indicated that bin Laden was considering further attacks against both the United States and the UK. The memo was compiled following US cruise missile strikes against Al-Qaeda-linked targets in Sudan and Afghanistan. “Hours before the US missile strikes, Bin Laden was looking at options for further attacks against the US as well as the UK,” the document said. “Bin Ladin did not indicate precise targets or timing.” The assessment also identified a US embassy in an unnamed country as a possible target and said a man had been authorised by b...

  AC Milan are planning to offer Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze a contract extension following an impressive start to his 2026/27 campaign.   The 27-year-old international has started each of Milan's opening three Serie A fixtures, contributing two assists as he establishes himself in the Rossoneri starting lineup.   Chukwueze’s existing contract with the seven-time European champions runs through June 2028, but transfer journalist Nicolò Schira reports that club officials are ready to open formal negotiations to extend his commitment to the San Siro outfit.   The Nigeria winger returned to San Siro ahead of the current campaign after spending the 2025/26 season on loan in the Premier League with Fulham.
