  An English athletics coach and former gold medalist who was reported missing has been jailed in Morocco after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor, ending weeks of uncertainty over the whereabouts of the former British sprinter.   Leon Baptiste, 41, was reported missing after travelling to Morocco, where he had been working as a consultant sprint coach for UK Athletics.   Neither UK Athletics, for whom he worked as a consultant sprinting coach, nor the sprinters he coached knew why he was out of contact.   In May, Baptiste sent the group of athletes he coached a short message saying he would be absent from training "for a while".   A midair collision involving a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter and a small airplane killed the pilot of the plane and injured two state troopers on Wednesday night, August 19.   A Bell 407 helicopter and a Cessna 150 airplane collided near Carlisle Airport at around 7:50 p.m. in central Pennsylvania, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.   Pennsylvania State Police Acting Commissioner Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens said the police helicopter was conducting routine training near a grassy area at Carlisle Airport when the collision occurred, which is located about 120 miles west of Philadelphia.   "The Cessna plane, for an unknown reason, veered to the right at the last moment, struck the helicopter from the rear, hit the tail rotor and the main rotor, resulting in a violent crash" Bivens said at a news briefing.   The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation, and federal investigators have not determined a prob...

  A Nigerian Catholic priest has shared a story of a grandfather who confessed to his daughter that he raped her daughters.   Fr. Evaristus Bassey took to X to write: 'An only daughter abandoned her job to take care of her dad for more than a year.  'The infirm elderly man thought he was going to die soon and called her to ask for her forgiveness.  'Apparently more than ten years earlier he had raped her two girls when they were barely 10 and 8. She was so shocked, disappointed and distressed that she  thought up all kinds of revenge.  'She wished he was even strong enough to be handed over to the police! Only the fear of God stopped her. “How can a granddad do that to his grandkids!” She kept lamenting.  'And then she remembered that the elder daughter had tried to say something years ago but she hadn’t brought herself to think that such an abomination was possible and so didn’t pay attention. Now she couldn’t forgive herself. She was inconsolable....

  Nigerian singer Omah Lay has opened up about his struggle to stop smoking, admitting that he has tried to quit but has been unable to.  Speaking in a recent conversation, the singer said he loves smoking and had previously tried to force himself to stop. “I can't even lie, I love smoking a lot, but I want, I try to stop. I want to stop. I fought myself,” he said. Omah Lay explained that he has now decided not to put too much pressure on himself, arguing that life is short and everyone will eventually die.   He also spoke about smoking weed in Nigeria, where it is illegal, saying it can make young people feel like criminals and describing the happiness he gets from smoking as “artificial happiness.”    The singer added that he wants to enjoy his life and the things that bring him peace.      

  A Florida mother who killed her own mother and two of her kids before turning the gun on herself had argued with her husband about porn on his phone in the days before the slayings, cops said.   Hailey Dempsey, 27, shot her mom, Valerie DeBoe, in the early hours of May 3 at her home in Plant City, in the Tampa Bay area.     Grandma Valerie DeBoe with her infant granddaughter who was also k!lled   She then fled on foot with her three young daughters before k!lling her 4-year-old and 4-month-old daughters. She also shot at her 2-year-old daughter but missed.
