  Anthony Renton, a former player at Middlesbrough, has tragically passed away at the age of 27 following a nine-year battle with leukaemia. The defender came through the Boro academy and later went on to coach at the north east club.   Middlesbrough wrote: "We are desperately saddened to report the passing of our former academy player Anthony Renton. An inspirational character, Anthony bravely battled leukaemia for almost nine years - and never let it diminish his love of our game.   "Anthony was a promising defender and had only recently signed his first professional terms with Boro when he was first diagnosed with leukaemia back in July 2017.   Nine people have been injured in a sho0ting close to the base England will use during the World Cup in Kansas City.   The incident happened only a short drive from the training base and hotel Thomas Tuchel’s squad are due to use during the tournament.   England are not yet in Kansas City, but the timing and location will still raise concern as the World Cup build-up intensifies.   The Three Lions are set to be based in the area for part of their campaign, with security around host cities already under heavy scrutiny before the tournament begins.   The Athletic report that Kansas City Police were called to Troost Avenue at around 4 am on Saturday after reports of shots being fired.   The US military says it has “successfully defeated” a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks in the Gulf and carried out self-defense strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island.   US Central Command (CENTCOM) also dismissed claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had struck the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and other regional bases. According to CENTCOM, Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional targets, but all failed to hit their intended destinations.   “Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart en route, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahraini air defence forces,” the statement said.   Kuwait’s military said its air defence systems were actively intercepting what it described as “hostile” missile and drone attacks.   CENTCOM later added that a further wave of Iranian drones targeting US forces in Kuwait also failed to reach their targets, w...

  At least 21 people were killed after a major fire broke out at the Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar area of Delhi, India.  The fire occurred at the multi-storey restaurant located in the Hauz Rani area of South Delhi.  The blaze started at around 8:50 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. According to reports, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received information about the incident at approximately 9:45 AM and immediately dispatched firefighting and rescue teams to the scene. In its initial statement, the Delhi Fire Service said 37 people were rescued from the basement of the building and shifted to hospitals through CATS ambulances. According to Delhi Police, 21 persons have been killed, and 37 were evacuated from the building and admitted to hospitals for treatment.  Out of the 21 deceased, majority of them were foreigners, the police said.
