  The administration of Donald Trump has declared that Iran will receive no sanctions relief unless it gives up its enriched uranium, as negotiations over a possible peace agreement continue.   The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has intensified nationwide surveillance and emergency preparedness in the event of a fresh Ebola disease outbreak in the country following the growing outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.   In a fresh public health advisory issued by the Director-General of the NCDC, Jide Idris, on Sunday, the agency said Nigeria has not recorded any confirmed case linked to the ongoing regional outbreak but warned that the risk of importation remains high because of international travel, population movement, and the scale of transmission in affected East African countries.   He also said that the alert became necessary due to the potential for delayed recognition because symptoms may overlap with endemic diseases such as malaria and Lassa fever.   The agency said its latest risk assessment identified border communities, major transport hubs, and international points of entry as high-risk areas requiri...

  A Virginia mother of three was allegedly murdered after being lured to West Virginia with the promise of a job opportunity by a man she was romantically involved with.   Angel Whitaker, 37, left her Bristol, Va., home in January 2026 for a new job in Bluefield, W.Va., after former work associate Donald Pennington, 59, allegedly offered her an assistant manager position at an O’Reilly Auto Parts in Bluefield, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WVNSTV.   Whitaker, who allegedly met Pennington at a Bristol auto shop in 2018 and began a relationship with him shortly after, moved in with him after relocating to West Virginia.   By April, her family lost all contact with her, and on May 4, her sister Angela reported her missing.   Investigators said the relationship had grown strained after Whitaker moved in with Pennington, and in the weeks before her disappearance, her sister told police Whitaker had moved into a Princeton hotel to distance herself from...

  Troops of 149 Battalion Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have arrested a suspected teenage terrorist in Gubio town, Borno.   The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria, 15, was arrested during a joint operation by troops and CJTF operatives. Security analyst Zagazola Makam, who disclosed this on May 22, 2026 said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect hailed from Jere Local Government Area and allegedly confessed to being among terrorists terrorising motorists along the Kareto general area. According to the sources, the suspect is currently in the custody of the military for further investigation.

  The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a 49-year-old Nigerian man, Etinosa Osahon, for stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. Osahon was arrested in Los Angeles on May 21, 2026.   The suspect is currently being held in ICE custody while awaiting removal from the United States. ICE announced the arrest in a post via X on Saturday, May 23.    "ICE Los Angeles arrested Etinosa Osahon, 49, of Nigeria, May 21. Osahon’s criminal record includes stealing and being in possesses of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. He is in ICE custody pending removal,” the post reads.
