  World Cup players who cover their mouths during confrontations with opponents will face a red card as part of a new initiative aimed at combating racism, world governing body FIFA said on Tuesday.    In a statement following a meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB) in Vancouver, FIFA confirmed that the rule was one of two law changes that would be introduced at this year’s World Cup.   A father is facing a slew of child neglect charges after he allegedly left his three children to perish in a house fire.   Joshua Kannin, 39, was charged with child neglect on April 21 for allegedly leaving his young children in his burning Kenosha home on Thanksgiving Day in November 2025, while he ran outside because he "panicked." Rylee, 10; Connor, 9; and Alena, 7, all died in the fire.     Kenosha police responded to 911 calls on November 27, 2025, where a distressed Kannin - only wearing his underwear - was begging for help, according to a complaint.    First responders found the two brothers on the first floor and the young daughter on the second floor.  The two boys died at the scene, while Alena was taken to the hospital with severe burns covering a staggering 80 percent of her body.   A British woman, Rachel Kerr, has been reported missing after she was last seen leaving a nightclub in Agadir over the weekend. The 31-year-old from Maddiston, Falkirk was in Morocco on a short work trip when she disappeared. According to her family, she had been staying at the Caribbean Village hotel but checked out on Saturday, after which all contact was lost and her phone was switched off. A friend said she was last seen at around 5am on Saturday at a venue identified as Smart Nightclub. Concerns for her safety have grown, with reports suggesting she had run out of money prior to her disappearance. Family members and friends have issued urgent appeals on social media, asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward. Her brother reportedly travelled to Morocco to help search for her.   Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is the subject of a lawsuit filed by German automaker Mercedes-Benz over an alleged unpaid car lease from his time playing in Italy.   Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia S.p.A. submitted a formal criminal complaint in Milan, accusing the 2023 CAF Player of the Year of failing to meet financial obligations tied to a luxury vehicle.  The dispute involves a Mercedes GLE hybrid SUV that Osimhen reportedly acquired under a leasing contract in 2023 while he was still with Napoli.   According to the complaint, the 27-year-old striker failed to make several installment payments, leading to arrears of approximately €90,000 (roughly ₦144 million). Furthermore, company representatives allege that the vehicle was not returned once the leasing term expired. The legal action categorizes the situation as "misappropriation."   Future has asked a court to hold his ex-girlfriend Brittni Mealy in contempt, escalating an ongoing legal dispute between the former couple. According to court filings, the rapper is seeking sanctions against Mealy, alleging she violated court orders by leaking information about him to the press. While portions of the motion remain redacted, the claims appear to relate to earlier accusations that details of their legal battle were shared publicly. The dispute stems from a lawsuit filed by Mealy, who claimed Future failed to secure a $500,000 life insurance policy intended to benefit their 13-year-old son, Prince.   A court has heard disturbing allegations against Jamie Varley, who is accused of abusing and murdering a 13-month-old boy he was in the process of adopting with his partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley. The child, Preston Davey, had been placed with the couple in April 2023, but prosecutors say he was subjected to repeated mistreatment, including physical assaults, s3xual abuse and the taking of indecent images. Just four months later, he died in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. Jurors were told Preston had around 40 injuries, many believed to be non-accidental. Prosecutors allege he was also subjected to rape before his death, claims both defendants deny. Messages presented in court showed Varley expressing frustration over the child’s behaviour. In one text to his sister, he wrote: “He’s dead meat today,” referring to sleepless nights.   US President Donald Trump has instructed US national security officials to prepare for a long-term blockade of Iran’s ports to compel Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.   The report suggests that Trump does not believe Iran is negotiating in good faith. He is reportedly pushing for a deal that would force Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment for 20 years and accept stringent restrictions beyond that period.   “They better get smart soon!” Trump declared in a post on his social media platform.   Citing unnamed officials, the Journal stated that Trump reached this decision during a Monday meeting in the White House Situation Room. He reportedly concluded that either resuming bombing campaigns or walking away from the conflict entirely presented too much risk.    Instead, he directed the US Navy to continue squeezing Iran’s vital oil exports until the government agrees to all of Washington’s demands.
