Chilean ex-President and billionaire businessman, Sebastián Piñera, has died in a helicopter crash at the age of 74.   The helicopter carrying Pinera, 74, and three others plunged into a lake in southern Chile on Tuesday, February 6.      The former president was pronounced dead shortly after rescue personnel arrived at the scene. The other three passengers survived.     Two sources told Reuters Pinera was the pilot, although officials have not confirmed that, nor the helicopter's intended destination.     President Gabriel Boric declared three days of national mourning, while preparations have begun for a state funeral on Friday for the former leader, who served two non-consecutive terms between 2010 and 2022.   Interior Minister Carolina Toha said the ex-president's body had been recovered from the lake, near the town of Lago Ranco.     "We remember him for the way he dedicated his life to public service," said Toha, who ...

Controversial social media influencer, Andrew Tate and his brother have appeared in court in Romania for a pre-trial hearing reportedly examining the status of their seized assets.   Tate and his brother Tristan attended a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday morning, February 1, at the Bucharest Tribunal that may have looked into the status of their seized assets, among other procedural matters.     However, the judge is said to have postponed the decision regarding the assets until February 29.     Last month Tate won an appeal challenging the seizure of his assets worth £ 10 million - which were confiscated by Romanian authorities in the weeks after he was arrested.   The Bucharest Court of Appeal overturned a decision to seize their assets in what Tate's spokesperson described as a 'significant' ruling for the brothers.      Romanian authorities had seized 15 luxury cars including Porsches and Ferraris, 14 designer watch...

A Manhattan, New York jury has determined that former president Donald Trump must pay writer E. Jean Carroll a whopping $83 million for defaming her after a different civil court jury last year found him liable for defamation, as well as sexual abuse.   Carroll, a former longtime Elle magazine advice columnist, was initially seeking $10 million in damages.  But during closing arguments on Friday, her attorney upped that to $24 million, saying the former president should pay his alleged abuse victim “at least” that much for defaming Carroll because “the only thing he cares about is money.”  Attorneys for Carroll and Trump rested their cases after closing arguments on Friday morning. Vince McMahon has resigned from his position as the Executive Chairman of TKO, the company that owns WWE, just a day after an explosive lawsuit was filed by a former WWE staffer, alleging that he sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions.   The staffer identified as Janel Grant had said she was subjected to degrading sexual acts at the hands of Vince. She alleged that McMahon defecated on her during a threesome in 2020.  Janel said while the situation left her "miserable and enraged," she didn't leave because "in her years of experience with McMahon, she knew her requests to stop would be ignored at best or used to destroy her career and reputation at worst." The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be in the Guinness World Records for “causing Nigerians the most hardship .”   Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the former Anambra state governor noted that the average Nigerian should be able to judge the performance of President Tinubu so far since May 2023.  Recall that President Tinubu said he deserves to be included in the Guinness World Records over his performances in the country since he assumed leadership.   Reacting, Peter Obi said; “He may actually be correct when he claims that his name deserves to be in the Guinness World Records.
