  Nigeria’s Super Eagles football team have dropped two places from 40th to 42nd in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking. The latest ranking was published on FIFA’s website on Thursday, 30 November, 2023.  The drop in ranking comes after Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their two opening fixtures in Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. After the opening two games, the three-time Africans champions are third behind leaders Rwanda and second placed South Africa.

Shane MacGowan, the lead singer and songwriter of trailblazing Celtic punk band the Pogues and one of the all-time great bandleaders, has died aged 65 following a long period of ill health.     The Irish singer was diagnosed with viral encephalitis, a life-threatening condition that leads to brain swelling, and had been in and out of hospital for months. A family has been left fuming after a 90-year-old grandmother was declared dead by doctors and was placed in the hospital morgue only for a shocked crematorium worker to discover she was still alive .   Norma Silveira da Silva, 90, was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 25, at about 11.40pm local time at Sao Jose Regional Hospital in Brazil.   But the employee who was about to send her body away discovered she was breathing and her body was still warm hours after her supposed death.   After he noticed Norma was still alive, he returned her to a hospital bed.      But despite being taken back to the ward, Norma passed away just over a day later, in the early hours of November 27. She was cremated that day.   As a result of the gaffe, Norma was issued with two death certificates. A 70-year-old Ugandan woman has given birth to twins after becoming pregnant through IVF treatment.      Safina Namukwaya became the oldest woman to give birth in Africa after she delivered a baby girl and boy on Wednesday afternoon, November 29, the Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre in the Ugandan capital of Kampala said.  Medics at the hospital said the mother and her two babies are doing well after they were delivered via a caesarean.      'This story isn't just about medical success; it's about the strength and resilience of the human spirit,' the hospital said.     Ms Namukwaya told the NTV channel that this was her second delivery in three years, after she gave birth to a girl called Sarah in 2020.   The mother said she had suffered some complications and difficulties during her pregnancy, including the father of her children leaving her.      'Men don't like to hear tha...

Former South Africa footballer, Papi Khomane, has tragically died in a car crash alongside his mother and uncle, his old club Orlando Pirates have revealed. Khomane, 48, who made nine international caps for Bafana Bafana and 151 domestic appearances for Orlando Pirates, was on his way to a funeral in Newcastle, South Africa on Saturday, November 25, when he, his mother Rita, and uncle were involved in a tragic car accident.  Confirming the sad news, his former club said: 'Orlando Pirates are saddened to learn of the passing away of former captain Papi Khomane. A two-year-old boy is now fighting for his life in hospital after he was brutally beaten by his drunk mother's friend who was babysitting.   Giovanni Reichert has undergone multiple operations over the past several months after his mother asked her friend McKinley Sloan Hernandez, 25, to watch over him. ‘I received a text message from the suspect saying I needed to rush to St Anthony’s Hospital because my son had gone lifeless after a bath,’ Stefanie Reichert told KDVR. ‘Once I saw him and all the 50 doctors standing around him, I had to leave the room because it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.’   Giovanni was airlifted to a children’s hospital after ‘being harmed by the hands of a trusted caregiver’, states a GoFundMe page set up for him.   Reichert said that Hernandez would often watch her son and other kids at an unlicensed childcare facility at her home in Lakewood, Colorado.
