  French defender,  Benjamin Mendy has made his return to football after two years out of the game.   The former Manchester City and France defender came off the bench for Lorient as a second-half substitute against ex-side Monaco in Ligue 1.  Mendy, 29, had been accused of carrying out sex attacks on two women at his £4million mansion. He was cleared after three hours of deliberation by a jury at Chester Crown Court in July - and broke down in the dock afterwards before saying he was 'delighted' with the not guilty verdicts.   He came on as a substitute for Lorient in the 71st minute of their game on Sunday, September 17.  Mendy signed for Lorient five days after his trial ended in the summer.     He signed a two-year deal with the Ligue 1 side following his release from Manchester City, where he made 75 appearances after joining in 2017 for £52million.   The left-back had been acquitted of six rapes and one sexual assault rating to...

  Former Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie has been conferred with honourary membership of the Imo State Football Association. Oparanozie disclosed this on her X handle on Monday morning September 18 . "Over the weekend I was conferred as an Honorary member of the Imo State Football Association,” Oparanozie wrote. “Special appreciation to the Imo State FA Chairman and it’s executive committee members for such an honour. A recognition I do no take for granted. Long live Imo State.“ Last week Oparanozie announced her retirement from professional football.   She helped the Falcons win four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018.   The 29-year-old was part of the Super Falcons squad that featured at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.   It was her fourth appearance at the World Cup after making her debut at the 2011 edition in Germany.

Former NFL star Sergio Brown has been reported missing after his mother was found murdered near a stream behind her home.   Relatives of the former football star, 35, told authorities in Illinois that they couldn't reach either him or his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, on Saturday, September 16.   A search for the mother and son began and Myrtle Brown was found dead near a creek behind her home according to authorities in a death that has since been ruled a homicide.     The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office made the decision on Sunday, September 17, as officials said she reportedly died from multiple injuries consistent with an assault.   Sheila Simmons, the fatal victim’s sister, told WGN-TV she last spoke to Brown on Thursday, September 14, and was told on Saturday morning her sister and nephew were missing.   "We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text ...

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan won the Diamond League trophy for the third consecutive time.   With 12:33 seconds record, Amusan emerged the winner of the fiercely contested 100m hurdles event on Sunday night, September 17, 2023.   Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quin came second in 12.38s, Kendra Harrison of the US finished third in 12.44, and world champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica finished fourth in 12.47.   Tobi Amusan set the record at the competition in Eugene, Oregon, USA, where she won the world title in 2022.   Singer Adele has sparked speculations of marriage after addressing her boyfriend, Rich Paul, as her “husband”.      Adele said this when a female fan asked if she could marry her, saying she's already hitched. She turned the woman's marriage proposal down in hilarious fashion, saying she's straight, and not just that, but that her "husband" was in the crowd and probably wouldn't appreciate it.   The British singer didn't say Rich's name, but he's the only one she's seeing.   It's unclear if Adele simply misspoke here, or if she did actually say "I do" the famous basketball agent who represents the likes of LeBron James and tons of other NBA stars.   This is far from the first time people have speculated on where things are between Rich and Adele. The first wave of marriage rumours came when eagle-eyed fans noticed a book at her house with the title “The Pauls.”  

  Lamar Odom was reportedly involved in a minor car accident in Los Angeles early Monday morning, September 18. The former NBA player, 43, was reportedly not injured but shaken up after his Mercedes was wrecked when he collided with two parked cars around 3 a.m. According to reports by TMZ, he was behind the wheel and was on his way back home from a friend's in Northridge when he got into an accident in a residential area near his home. Because he dropped his phone and was reaching down to retrieve it, he ended up hitting one parked car which bumped into another one in front of it. No one was inside of the parked cars at the time of the accident. When authorities arrived at the scene, the two-time NBA champion was reportedly cooperative and explained how the accident occurred. French President, Emmanuel Macron has revealed that the country's envoy to Niger and his staff are "literally" living like hostages in the embassy.   Macron said envoy Sylvain Itte remains persona non grata while accusing the Niger junta of blocking food deliveries to the consulate where the diplomatic staff is living in miserable conditions. "As we speak, we have an ambassador and diplomatic staff who are literally being held hostage in the French embassy," Macron told reporters during a visit to Burgundy.   "They are preventing food deliveries. He is eating military rations," he added.   Asked if his government was planning to bring Itte back home, Macron said: "I will do whatever we agree with President Bazoum because he is the legitimate authority and I speak with him every day."
