African football ruling body, Confederation of African Football (CAF) has said it has received written statements from football stakeholders in Cameroon to investigate FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o for alleged improper conduct. In a statement released on Wednesday, August 9, CAF said it is looking into these requests based on and in accordance with the its Statutes and Regulations. The football body stated that while the allegations are prima facie serious, Eto’o is presumed to be innocent until an appropriate judicial body concludes otherwise. CAF added that it will make no further announcement while the investigations are ongoing and will only make public statements when the proceedings have ended.. Last month amateur football clubs in Cameroon called for the resignation of Eto’o.   Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in Florida on Wednesday night, August 9,  after failing to appear in court.  The rapper was brought to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he placed for his mug shot. He was later released after posting $2,000 bail.   TMZ reported that the arrest stems from 3 traffic tickets Tekashi received after he was pulled over by police in June for driving way over the speed limit.   He was reportedly going 135 mph in a 65 mph zone on the Florida Turnpike and this led to him being given a ticket for speeding. He was also issued citations for having an unregistered vehicle and no car insurance.   Tekashi failed to appear for a July court hearing to address the tickets, pushing a judge into issuing a warrant that resulted in last night's arrest.   The rapper has had many brushes with the law and is most notorious for cooperating with the feds in his 2018-2019 racketeering case in which he testified against members...

Ecuador presidential candidate, Fernando Villavicencio, 59, has been assassinated less than two weeks before the country's general election. Villavicencio was shot dead at a Movimiento Construye political rally at a school north of the capital Quito Wednesday night, August 9. He was gunned down 10 days before the first round of the presidential election which was set to take place on August 20. Footage shared on social media showed Villavicencio, 59, being escorted out of the rally venue and into a waiting car. As he was getting into the back seat gunfire rang out.   Catholic Church leader, Pope Francis has issued a warning on artificial intelligence, urging those behind the technology to "be vigilant" during their work. The Pope made the statement in his message marking New Year's Day, which the Vatican traditionally releases far in advance.   Three high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel have been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department for trafficking drugs, including fentanyl  into America.   The suspects identified as Alfonso Arzate, his brother, Rene Arzate, and Rafael Felix, all operate plazas for the transnational criminal organization that was co-founded by Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, according to Mail Online.   The sanctions made on Wednesday, August 9, block any assets the three men may have in the United States. In addition, U.S. citizens are prohibited from having any dealings with them.
