A British teenager has been found dead with head wounds in a forest in Thailand with authorities now searching for his missing girlfriend. Woramet Ben Taota, 16, went for a motorcycle ride with Yam, also 16, in his hometown of Lampang on Saturday but did not return home.   Local police said they received a report on Sunday morning that Ben had been found dead in a grove in the Ban Than district, with injuries resembling blunt force.   Officers reported that the teenager's phone and cash were missing from his shoulder bag, and suggested he might have been robbed. They believe he was killed and left in the woods as there were no signs of struggle. Super Eagles striker,  Victor Osimhen is now the highest-scoring African in Serie A history after netting Napoli’s only goal in their 1-0 win over Fiorentina at the Diego Maradona stadium.   Osimhen converted a penalty to take his tally to 47 goals after scoring the winning goal in the Partenopei’s 1-0 victory at the Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday night, May 7 to kick off their title celebration.    The goal was the 24-year-old's 23rd league of the season and his 47th in the league since his move to Italy in 2020.   Former US President Donald Trump rejected his last chance to testify at a civil trial on Sunday, May 7, where an Elle magazine advice columnist has accused him of raping her in a luxury store department in 1996.   Trump, a Republican candidate for president in 2024, was given until 5 p.m. Sunday by U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to file a request to testify. However, nothing was filed.  It's not the first time Trump is snubbing proceedings in the case which he has denied and called a 'sham'. Trump has not shown up once during the two-week Manhattan trial where writer E. Jean Carroll testified for several days, repeating claims she first made publicly in a 2019 memoir. She is seeking compensatory and punitive damages totaling millions of dollars. A Polish plane nearly crashed after a Russian fighter jet intercepted it in a series of 'aggressive and dangerous' manoeuvres, according to Poland's border force.   The Polish surveillance plane, an L-410 Turbolet, was on patrol for the EU's border agency over the Black Sea on Friday May 5, when a Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jet flew within 'five metres' of the aircraft three times.   The Russian jet did 'not make radio contact' before approaching the plane, which caused Polish pilots to 'lose control' of the aircraft and perform an emergency landing in Romania, the border agency said.   It comes after RAF Typhoon fighters and a Norwegian F-35A plane scrambled to intercept a Russian Tu-142 patrol aircraft approaching British airspace last week.   European leaders slammed the move as 'aggressive and dangerous' and called it a 'planned provocation'.   Romania said the Polish plane was on a routine Frontex patrol with Roma...

A mapiano musician and producer DJ Maphorisa has been arrested for beating up his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.    City Press reported that the incident happened at Thuli Phongolo’s apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg. The former Generations: The Legacy actress opened a case of assault against the Ba Straata hitmaker at Sandton Police Station.   It was gathered that Thuli got assaulted after she confronted Maphorisa about a heated argument they had at a gig he was booked to perform on May 6, 2023. The two stars argued in the full glare of the people who were attending the show.   She said in a statement;    “On Sunday, 2023/5/7, at about 12 pm, I was at my place of residence with my boyfriend, Sonnyboy Sekowe, better known as DJ Maphorisa. Embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has denied being on the run and has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside the bench warrant issued against her on July 24, 2020.    Punch reports that in a motion filed by her counsel, Mike Ozekhome, Diezani who served under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, told the court that contrary to claims made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that she was on the run, she went to the United Kingdom in 2015 to get treatment after being diagnosed with  “the most aggressive form of breast cancer — Triple Negative Cancer.”  In the motion filed by her counsel, Diezani prayed the court to strike out her name as “a defendant in charge number: FHC/ABJ/CR/208/2018 between the Federal Republic of Nigeria V. Diezani Alison Madueke, pending before this honorable court.” The motion, which has FRN as complainant/respondent, had Alison-Madueke as sole defendant/applicant. ...

  Barring any last-minute changes, the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) will today May 8 commence hearing the petitions challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect.  Recall that on March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, declared Tinubu the winner of the February 25 presidential election, This declaration has however been rejected by two of the contending Presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. In separate petitions, Obi and Atiku they asked the tribunal to grant orders to annul the election or declare them the winners of the polls.   In a 66-page petition, Atiku urged the court to cancel the election and order a fresh election due to alleged irregularities that marred the February 25 polls in thousands of polling units.
