  Former Great Britain and England rugby player, Gareth Hock has been charged with rape. Greater Manchester Police confirmed Hock, 39, had been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. A police statement read: 'Gareth Hock from Wigan has been charged with multiple offences including rape, assault, and controlling or coercive behaviour. 'He has been remanded in custody and will appear at court at a later date. The assault and controlling and coercive behaviour charges were brought against the former international earlier this month. The other charges were based on events that took place between 1 January 2009 and 11 November 2022. Hock was arrested on 14 February and appeared at a hearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court. He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court at an unspecified date for a pre-trial hearing. Super Eagles players have arrived camp in Abuja for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Guinea-Bissau. According to the Nigeria Football Federation there are six players already at the team’s John Woods Hotel base as at Monday, March 20 Among the early arrivals in camp are Everton winger, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Joe Aribo.   The other players already in camp are Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Ademola Lookman and Kevin Akpoguma. The remaining 17 players are still expected. The Super Eagles will hold their first training session on Monday at the practice pitch of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Mick Slattery, the original guitarist, and co-founder of the rock band Hawkwind, has died at the age of 77. The band confirmed the news over the weekend, telling fans that Slattery had died the day prior, on March 17. The musician died at home following a short illness. The band, who recorded several tracks at Abbey Road Studios, are best known for their song Silver Machine. In statement, Dave said: "We are sorry to share the sad news that our old friend, and Hawkwind founder member, Mick Slattery passed away peacefully at home yesterday, St Patrick's Day, March 17, 2023, aged 77, after a short illness. A Massachusetts man who attempted to hire a contract killer to murder his wife had unknowingly commissioned an undercover federal agent to carry out the hit, has been arrested.   Massimo Marenghi, 56, now faces up to 10 years behind bars after pleading guilty Thursday, March 16, to the murder-for-hire, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said in a release.   The Malden man “complained about his wife seeking a restraining order against him” during a January 2021 meeting with an undercover FBI agent posing as a contract killer, officials said.   Marenghi later met with the undercover agent and asked him to help “eliminate” his problem as the pair “discussed a price of $10,000,” the feds said.   The husband provided the agent with a photograph of his wife’s home and detailed how to evade surveillance cameras while carrying out the crime, they said.   When they met again, Marenghi gave the federal agent a $1,500 cash deposit for ...

A dentist was arrested Sunday, March 19, for allegedly poisoning his wife in what police called a “heinous, complex and calculated murder.”   James Toliver Craig, of Aurora, Colorado, had driven his 43-year-old wife to the hospital Wednesday night after she complained of dizziness and severe headaches, Aurora police said.   Soon after arriving, her condition rapidly deteriorated and she was placed on a ventilator in the ICU before being declared brain dead, investigators said.   Doctors decided to take the victim off life support early Sunday morning.   However, they believed her rapid deterioration was suspicious and reported it to the police.   The Aurora police’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit launched an investigation and found that the victim was poisoned — allegedly by the man who had rushed her to the hospital.   “When the suspicious details of this case came to light, our team of officers and homicide detectives tirelessly worked to uncover t...
