  Brazilian striker, Roberto Firmino, will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, it has been revealed. Firmino reportedly decided not to renew his expiring contract and will depart the club this summer after eight successful years with the Merseyside club.   The 31-year-old personally informed manager Jurgen Klopp about his decision and had positive talks with him on Friday, according to SkySports. Klopp reportedly wanted to work with Firmino beyond this summer, but the player has now decided to leave with his next move still undecided. In 2015, Firmino completed his move from Hoffenheim in a £21.3m deal. Belarusian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski was sentenced by a court in Minsk on Friday, March 3 to 10 years in a maximum-security prison, Russia state news agency TASS reports. He was found guilty on the charge of smuggling, according to TASS.   Germany called the 10-year prison term an attack by the Minsk government on civil society.    On Twitter, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock slammed the charges and trial against Bialiatski and co-defendants Valentin Stefanovich and Vladimir Labkovich as a ”farce” adding they were being judged ”simply because of their years-long fight for the rights, dignity and freedom of people in Belarus.” ”The Minsk regime is fighting civil society with violence and imprisonment,” Baerbock said, adding ”this is as much a daily disgrace as Lukashenko’s support for Putin’s war (in Ukraine).” Baerbock urged Belarus to end political persecution and demanded the release of all of the more than 1,400 political prisoners. ...

Lawyers for Jussie Smollett have filed an appeal of his December 2021 conviction for fabricating a racist and homophobic attack on himself and then lying to Chicago police about it.   The former “Empire” actor, 40, was found guilty on five counts of disorderly conduct in December 2021.   On March 10, 2022, a Cook County judge sentenced Smollett to 150 days in jail and two years’ probation. He was also ordered to pay a $25,000 fine and restitution of more than $120,000.   Smollett walked out of jail six days later after an appeals court ruled that he should be released while his conviction was appealed. A Toronto man is facing 96 charges related to the sexual assault and abuse of minors he targeted using social media platforms, Canadian police said on March 1, adding they believed there were more victims. Daniel Langdon, 31, who has been notably charged with 39 counts of sexual assault, is also suspected of making and possessing child pornography, Toronto police told a press conference. Unidentified Gunmen left a threatening note aimed at football star, Lionel Messi, after attacking a supermarket in his home town of Rosario in Argentina in the early hours of Thursday, March 2.   Reports emanating from Argentina say 14 shots were fired at the doors of food store “Unico” in Rosario before two suspects fled the scene on a motorbike.  The store belongs to the family of Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who also grew up in Rosario.  Nobody was injured in the attack, which caused significant damage to the shop. But a piece of cardboard was left at the scene with the message: “Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug dealer. La Liga president, Javier Tebas, has announced that Barcelona will not be able to sign players this summer transfer window. Tebas said this at the FT Business of Football summit in London on Thursday, as per Martin Lipton of The Sun. “As of today, Barcelona doesn’t have any room in its budget to spend in the upcoming transfer window. “Barcelona has been involved in questionable behaviour which has had an impact on LaLiga and we are acting accordingly.   A woman allegedly cut off her boyfriend's penis after he threatened to spread their sex tapes because she refused to sleep with him.   The unnamed woman, 28, is said to have attacked her partner, also 28, on Feb. 25, when they were at a hotel in Sibolga, North Sumatra, in Indonesia.   The woman was pictured in police detention with cable ties around her wrists. She has not yet been charged, according to reports.     According to police, the wild incident started when the boyfriend made advances on the woman but she "was not in the mood".   Witnesses said the pair, who had been together for more than half a year, were not heard arguing. However, they heard the howls of pain from the man after his manhood was severed.   He was rushed to the hospital with blood loss and is currently in intensive care.   Sibolga Police Chief Taryono Rajarja said: "Based on the suspect's statement, they had been in a relationship for around seven months. ...
