Twenty-nine people are confirmed to have been killed in a crash by a plane in Nepal that had 72 on board, but there were some survivors, an official said Sunday. “We have recovered 29 bodies so far and (we) have also sent some survivors to the hospital for treatment,” Gurudatta Dhakal, assistant chief official in Kaski district, told AFP. This is the first picture of a man who stole over £900,000 from the city council and then fled to the US to become a psychic medium. Tyler Evans carried out the sophisticated fraud over a three-year period. After joining the council in 2005, Evans worked in various departments before joining the highway’s team in the role of customer engagement officer in 2010. His job involved dealing with refunds of deposits paid to contractors once works had been completed. Between 2010 and 2013, he submitted 35 false forms to his managers which resulted in payments being authorised that were paid into 10 separate bank accounts. The money was sent to accounts in Evans’s own name, his business account Called Paranormal Activities, as well those of friends and associates. The suicide of a 13-year-old French boy who was subjected to homophobic bullying at school has prompted expressions of shock in the country and warnings that homophobia kills. Prosecutors have opened an investigation into harassment of a minor after the boy, Lucas, took his own life last weekend in the Vosges region of eastern France. Regional prosecutor Frederic Nahon said that the boy’s friends told investigators he had been the victim of bullying “by pupils at his school for several months due to his homosexuality”.   The family has yet to file a criminal complaint but the situation at the Louis Armand school in the town of Golbey has been reported to the education ministry, the prosecutor added. “I am thinking of all the students like him who are bullied. Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has appealed to the Nigerian government to “unconditionally and immediately” release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The governor of Anambra state made the call at a political gathering in Awka, the state capital on Saturday, January 14. Governor Soludo went further to assert that if the detained IPOB leader cannot be released unconditionally, he should be released to him saying he is ready to stand surety for him. Nollywood actor, Femi Ogunrombi has died. Ogunrombi got popular for his role in Wale Adenuga’s Comedy series, Papa Ajasco, after he replaced the main character,  Abiodun Ayoyinka, who pulled out of the series at one point, but later continued. Details of his passing is however still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.   Theatre practitioner, Shaibu Husseini, confirmed his passing on Twitter.   “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with the NationalTroupe OfNigeria and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular WAP Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is DEAD.
