The Democratic party of the United States have secured control of the  Senate, giving Joe Biden a mid-term boost as he heads into the final two years of his first term as president. With one seat still in doubt, the Democrats claimed a majority on Sunday, November 13 when Nevada senator Catherine Cortez Masto was re-elected, defeating Republican challenger Adam Laxalt.  The party now has 50 seats in the 100-seat Senate, with the newly elected Senate to be sworn in on January 3, 2023.     While control of the US House of Representatives is still to be decided, and a run-off election will take place to decide who claims one of Georgia's Senate seats, the Democrats have retained a Senate majority by virtue of Vice-President Kamala Harris's tie-breaking vote.  Speaking to reporters after AP declared Ms Cortez Masto as winner of the Nevada Senate seat, President Biden said he felt good about the election results.  Result to impact judicial appoin...

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a businesswoman, Okefun Darlington Chisom over her links with two Pakistani nationals arrested with cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos. The Pakistanis, Asif Muhammed, 45 and Hussain Naveed, 57, were arrested with 8 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a sound system while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Lahole, Pakistan via Doha on November 5, 2022.  Spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest of the woman in a statement on Sunday, November 13.  Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives attached to the SAHCO import shed of the MMIA Lagos have intercepted another consignment of Tramadol from Karachi, Pakistan. An 8-year-old boy who was kidnapped by his stepfather has been rescued by detectives in Kenya and reunited with his distraught mother.  The suspect, Nemwel Ondari, kidnapped the boy on Saturday morning, November 12, after a domestic disagreement with his wife, Everline Nandera.  The suspect was arrested following a report filed at Embakasi police station at around 9:30am, by the boy’s worried mother.  According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations- DCI, the suspect demanded and threatened to kill the boy with a kitchen knife if the wife didn't act fast.     "Nandera told detectives that she had left their home in Embakasi’s Tel Aviv area at the crack of dawn, headed for Muthurwa market," the statement read.  But upon coming back at around 9:20am, she found her husband and son missing. Three children have been confirmed among 21 people killed after a bus fell into a canal in Egypt's Nile River Delta region on Saturday November 12, the country's Health Ministry said. Dr. Sherif Makeen, a health ministry official, said three children were among the dead. In a statement, the ministry said the accident happened in Dakahlia province, around 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of the capital of Cairo. Other injured passengers were transported to a local hospital. Although there is no official confirmation on the exact details of what caused the crash, the incident was said to have been linked to a steering wheel malfunction The head of police investigations in the province, Brig. Transgender influencer, Nikita Dragun was arrested on Monday night on a felony charge of battery on a police officer.  Cops said she was walking around naked at the pool in The Goodtime Hotel, before dousing officers and security guards with water. A police report obtained by TMZ showed security operatives responded to a report of someone causing a disturbance and being extremely disorderly at the hotel.   Police say when they got there, hotel security told officers Nikita had been causing a disturbance for a long period of time and walking around the pool area naked.   Nikita reportedly ignored demands to stop causing the disturbance and at one point intentionally threw water on hotel staffers.   Once officers arrived on scene, they say they went with security up to Nikita's room, where they heard loud music being played.   Nikita opened the door after several knocks, but when security explained to Nikita she needed to cut it out or she'd...

Former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter has admitted that it was a 'mistake' to hand the World Cup to Qatar because it is 'too small' to stage the huge tournament.    Qatar was awarded the competition back in 2010, but the decision was met with huge controversy after allegations the country had paid bribes in order to secure the right to host the tournament.
