Princess Märtha Louise, the daughter of Norway’s King Harald, said Tuesday, Nov. 8, that she will no longer officially represent the Norwegian royal house following "many questions relating to me and my fiancé's role." The 51-year-old princess, who is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, got engaged in June to Durek Verrett, an American who describes himself as a shaman and a healer on his website.   At least one foundation for which Märtha Louise served as a patron subsequently ended its connection with the princess.   The Princess has now released a statement stepping down from her royal duties. Last of the Summer Wine star Tom Owen has died aged 73. The actor is best known for playing Tom Simmonite in the long-running BBC sitcom for 10 years from 2000. His appearance on the popular show continued a family tradition after his father, Bill Owen, portrayed his on-screen father, Compo Simmonite. A statement from Tom’s family released on Tuesday (November 8) said: "He passed away peacefully and is survived by his two children, James and William, and ex-wife, Mary."  Fans have since taken to social media to mourn the acting legend.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin has signed a law to conscript citizens with unexpunged or outstanding convictions for murder, robbery, larceny, drug trafficking and other serious crimes under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to be called up for military service to mobilize for the war in Ukraine.   The new law makes it possible to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people who have been sentenced to probation or have recently been released from colonies who were previously forbidden to serve.  The only group of criminals exempted from the decree are those who committed sex crimes against minors, treason, spying, terrorism, those convicted of the attempted assassination of a government official, hijacking an aircraft, extremist activity and illegal handling of nuclear materials and radioactive substances.   Putin said that the Kremlin had already mobilized an additional 18,000 soldiers above its goal of 300,000 to fight in its war in Ukraine from...

An airplane belonging to Tanzania's Precision Air crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday, November 6, 2022.    According to Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), the plane was about to land at Bukoba Airport in Northwestern Tanzania but due to the poor weather conditions, it crash-landed into the lake.  The passenger plane had departed Dar es Salaam to Bukoba, a two-hour flight according to Precision Air social media handles.   TBC said 15 people had been rescued so far from the Precision Air jet but it was unknown how many passengers were on board or whether there were any fatalities.   The news reports show photos of the plane mostly submerged in the lake and say rescue operation is underway.    Bukoba Airport is on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. 

Shaquille O’Neal has slammed Kanye West after the rapper dragged him into one of his Twitter rants.   After Brooklyn Nets suspended Kyrie Irving for  promoting a movie and a book with anti-Semite ideas, Kanye West reacted via his Twitter account.   Kanye, who has been dropped by many brands for his anti-Semitic remarks, posted a headline where Shaq calls Kyrie an "idiot" for his actions.   In his caption, Kanye said that the media and powers that be are pinning African Americans against each other.     Kanye also went on to reveal a business partnership Shaq has with billionaire Jamie Salter, who is Jewish.   Shaq didn't appreciate being dragged into the drama by Kanye so he blasted the rapper with his own words.   Shaq responded to Kanye's tweet, writing: "Believe me you don’t know me like that. A two-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed himself after finding his dad's loaded gun in a pick-up truck.   The incident happened when Warren Bennett Oser, from North Carolina, US, climbed into his dad's vehicle through an open door at their home in Benson and discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 40-caliber handgun.   According to prosecutors, the weapon was left on the front seat when the two-year-old started to play with the gun. The toddler, whose parents were at home at the time of the shooting, then accidentally shot himself in the head and he was quickly rushed to Johnson Medical Center Clayton.   Warren was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.     Warren Bennett Oser, from North Carolina, US, was found by police with a gunshot wound to his head after responding to a shooting on October 15 at around 6pm.   Dad Tyler Oser will be charged with failure to properly and safely secure his firearms to protect minors, the Johnsto...

Migos rapper, Quavo's assistant, Joshua 'Wash' Washington, 23, was hit by gunfire during the shooting which killed the star's nephew, Migos rapper Takeoff.    The 28-year-old rapper was killed around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, when gunfire erupted outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling following a private party.      Wash - who is listed as Quavo's assistant and operations management at QuavoHuncho Records on Instagram, is said to have been one of the two victims rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.      Identities of the shooting victims have not been confirmed but a 24-year-old female is also said to have been injured.    Police in Houston Wednesday said that Takeoff's death was the result of 'penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm' and his manner of death was called homicide.      Police are still seeking the public's help in tracking down the person or ...
