About 18 foreigners have been arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) over alleged possession of permanent voter cards (PVCs) in Oyo.   Isah Dansuleiman, NIS comptroller in the state who disclosed this at a sensitisation programme for stakeholders on the 2023 general election on Wednesday November 2, said the foreigners were arrested during a raid carried out across the state in October. They were subsequently deported.  He also urged Nigerians to report any foreigner attempting to partake in the general election. Dansuleiman said;   “No migrant, regardless of their status, should participate in the 2023 general elections, and any migrant caught in possession of voter card will face the full wrath of the law. “Those using them know their status but use them for their selfish reasons to procure voter cards.”

Elon Musk has mocked United States Representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she criticized his decision to charge verified Twitter users $8 monthly for the Twitter Blue Tick.   AOC took to Twitter on Wednesday night and wrote: "Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually a $8/mo subscription plan.   Elon Musk hit back: "Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8."     Hours later, the congresswoman joked on Twitter that she seemed "to have gotten under a certain billionaire’s skin" next to a laughing emoji.   "Just a reminder that money will never buy your way out of insecurity, folks," she wrote.   Musk also tweeted a screenshot of a sweatshirt from Ocasio-Cortez’s merchandise line with the price of $58 circled alongside a thinking face emoji.   Ocasio-Cortez defended the cost of the sweatshirt, while taking the opportunity to get in another jab at the billionaire. ...

Kanye West can’t sell his “White Lives Matter” T-shirts legally in the US, as the trademark for the controversial phrase is owned by Ramses Ja and Quinton Ward, two Black activists who host the nationally syndicated radio show Civic Cipher   Kanye sparked outrage last month when he debuted the “White Lives Matter” designs during the YZY Season 9 fashion show. MMA fighter, Alexander Pisarev has tragically passed away at the age of  33, with reports claiming his death was the result of food poisoning.   Pisarev, who had five professional MMA fights and a record of 3-2, died suddenly on October 30, after eating poisoned watermelon.   An unnamed member of his Tomahawk team told Russian news agency, Tass, that "Alexander Pisarev died in his sleep and did not have any chronic health problems. According to preliminary data, death was the result of food poisoning."     A number of Russian media outlets including Pravda suggested Pisarev ate a watermelon alongside his wife who served the fruit.   Operatives of the Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) have arrested a Nigerian national and his lover who are involved in an internet love scam worth PHP2.2 million in Bacoor City, Cavite.    In a statement on Thursday, November 3, 2022, Lt. Michael Bernardo, team leader of Quezon City District Anti Cybercrime Team identified the suspects as Ikenna Onuoha, 37, and Jacel Ann Paderan, 28.    He said the suspects were arrested in an operation by QCDACT and the Quezon City District Special Operation Unit personnel in Molino, Bacoor City, Cavite on November 1, 2022.    Police said the Nigerian national and Paderan were apparently lovers but that the victim, whose name was withheld by authorities, was also the Nigerian suspect's lover.   Police said the Nigerian man and the victim met on an online dating app and had been in a relationship since April 2020.    The suspects have pending arrest war...
