The US has blasted the Russian president, Vladimir Putin for planning to mobilize more forces and carry out referendums in occupied regions of Ukraine despite the United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York this week.   US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the fact that Russia is moving ahead with referendums in Ukrainian territory, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly contemplating mobilizing more reserve forces while the United Nations General Assembly is happening, shows Putin’s “utter contempt and disdain” for the UN.  “ The very principles that we're here to uphold this week in the charter of sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, are what are being violently aggressed by Russia, including through the attempts to proceed with these referenda and putting even more forces into the effort to seize Ukrainian sovereign territory.” Blinken said   Blinken also said it was not a surprise that Russia was making the...

Apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has warned the Federal Government against allowing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu,  to die in custody of the Directorate of State Services (DSS). This comes after his brother Emmanuel Kanu and attorney Ifeanyi Ejiofor had raised the alarm on Kanu's health condition following a routine visit at the Department of State Service cell. Russia have been banned from Euro 2024 after UEFA confirmed the country would be excluded from qualification matches over the war in Ukraine.   Following the invasion of Ukraine in February, UEFA and FIFA imposed a ban on Russia’s national and club sides, which was upheld in July after the Court of Arbitration dismissed an appeal. The country was also banned from bidding to host Euro 2028 or Euro 2032.   Russia were removed from qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, taking place later this year, and they will now miss a second successive international tournament.   A UEFA statement read: “All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022 which has further been confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022.   “Russia is therefore not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw.”   UEFA confir...

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, and Samuel Chukwueze have been ruled out of Nigeria’s international friendly against Algeria. The pair have been replaced with Godwin Saviour and Ebube Duru.   The friendly against Algeria will take place at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran on Tuesday, September 27.   “We’re regrouping again for a friendly against Algeria on September 27, 2022. Uganda's health ministry and the World Health Organization on Tuesday September 20, confirmed the outbreak of Ebola in the country.    The health ministry said there was a confirmed Ebola case in central Mubende district, a 24-year-old man who showed symptoms and later died.   WHO's Africa office said in a statement that the case was of the relatively rare Sudan strain, after Ugandan health authorities investigated six suspicious deaths in the district this month.   "There are currently eight suspected cases who are receiving care in a health facility," WHO Africa said, adding it was helping Uganda's health authorities with their investigation and deploying staff to the affected area.   Fever, vomiting and severe diarrhoea are among the symptoms of the highly infectious and extremely lethal Ebola virus.   Uganda has had multiple Ebola outbreaks, including one in 2000 that killed hundreds.

  American rapper, DDG has been hit with gun possession charges following his June arrest. According to  TMZ , the rapper, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., is being charged with misdemeanor charges of one count of carrying a loaded weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, and one count of reckless driving.     The gun charges carry a year in prison each while the reckless driving carries a maximum of 90 days if he’s convicted.   DDG was arrested on June 6 after Los Angeles police allegedly spotted him driving his Lamborghini erratically.   After pulling DDG over during a routine traffic stop, officers discovered a 9mm handgun in his possession. He was placed in cuffs and hauled off to Van Nyus Jail, where he posted $35,000 bond and was released.   The L.A. Donald Trump has mocked Joe Biden for being given a seat on the 14th row at the Queen's funeral and said if he were the president he would have been moved closer to the front of the audience.   The former President said on his social media platform - Truth Social - that it showed there is "no respect" for the United States anymore. He also insisted it was a good time for Biden to get to know "leaders of certain Third World Countries".     In his first reaction to the funeral, Trump noted Biden's position in Westminster Abbey behind the Polish president.      He wrote: "This is what's happened to America in just two short years. No respect!
