The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has died. He was 83-years old.   The monarch died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, on Friday night, April 22nd. His body has since been taken to Oyo state where his burial rites have since begun.   He was the longest-reigning Alaafin ever, having ruled for 52 years.   The monarch had been sick and a plan had been made to fly him abroad before he passed on late Friday night. His tickets and those of a few wives have been bought before his sudden demise.   Alaafin Adeyemi was born Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi on October 15, 1938 into the Alowolodu Royal House of the famous Oyo town. He was crowned on November 18, 1970, succeeding Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I. He was known popularly as Iku Baba Yeye.   He is survived by many wives and children.   May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

  Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has promised to  eliminate spam bots or fake robotic accounts from Twitter if his bid to buy Social media platform, Twitter succeeds so that only real humans can use the platform. Musk who is the world's richest man who is also CEO of Tesla and Space X last week offered to buy Twitter claiming he would restore freedom of expression on the micro blogging platform.  "If our twitter bid succeeds, we will defeat the spam bots or die trying," Musk tweeted Thursday night, April 21. He added, "And authenticate all real humans."    The Tesla Inc CEO had previously expressed his deep concerns regarding crypto bots putting up scam posts on Twitter to dupe investors.   At a TED Talk on April 14, Musk said, "If I had a Dogecoin for every crypto scam I saw, we’d have 100 billion Dogecoin."  "A top priority I would have is eliminating the spam and scam bots and the bot armies that are on Twitter," Musk added.   He also...

The world's oldest ever death row inmate has been executed by lethal injection at the Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville.   Carl Wayne Buntion, 78, was the oldest killer awaiting execution in the southern state.   He was pronounced dead on Thursday night, April 21.   Buntion fatally shot Houston Police Officer James Irby, 37, in June 1990, at a traffic stop.   Irby had pulled alongside the car when Buntion, sitting in the passenger seat, shot him in the head as he spoke with the driver.   The 78-year-old, who had an extensive criminal record already, actually tried to leave the car during the traffic stop but was ordered to return by the officer.     Witnesses in a nearby car described how he then opened fire on Irby and another cop, killing Irby and injuring the second officer.   He then fled on foot but eventually turned himself in and was convicted of capital murder and s...

Mwai Kibaki, Kenya's third president from 2003-2013, has died aged 90. Kibaki's death was announced by current Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. While announcing Kibaki's death, Kenyatta recalled his long public service, including being a member of parliament for five decades.   "Kibaki was a quintessential patriot whose legacy of civic responsibility will continue to inspire generations of Kenyans long into our future," Kenyatta said in a televised address.   Kenyatta did not state the cause of death but Kibaki has been ailing for some time, domestic media reported.   Kibaki is credited with reviving Kenya's then ailing economy, but his tenure was marred by deadly violence that killed more than 1,200 Kenyans following his disputed re-election in December 2007.

  A$AP Rocky was detained at Los Angeles International airport on Wednesday morning, April 28, in connection to a shooting that took place in 2021. The rapper whose real name is Rakim Mayers landed at the California airport following his trip to Barbados with pregnant girlfriend Rihanna and was taken into custody, NBC News reported. The LAPD made the arrest with assistance from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team.   His attorney confirmed the news to NBC. A rep for the LAPD could not yet confirm Rocky’s detention.  Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has reportedly been under investigation by the LAPD for his alleged involvement in a Nov. 6 shooting. The victim, who survived, later told police the rapper, 33, was walking with two others when he approached the man with a handgun on the street.   Horrified hotel guests caught Manchester City defender, Kyle Walker urinating on the side wall of a posh hotel. According to the Sun UK, Walker was pictured urinating against the wall on Sunday, 17,  24 hours after Manchester City lost 3-2 to Liverpool in their FA Cup semi-final.  Onlookers said Walker looked around before pulling up his hoodie and urinating.   One witness reportedly spotted Walker’s leg tattoos when he peed at The Bridge in Prestbury, Cheshire, at 3.25pm. He told The Sun: “I had just arrived for a meal with my family and suddenly I’m watching Kyle Walker, who I instantly recognised, p***ing against a wall. It was revolting.  “It wasn’t just a quick wee. He was there for ages. Former US first lady, Michelle Obama has revealed that her daughters Sasha, 20, and Malia, 23,  now have boyfriends.  Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Michelle, 58, marveled that her daughters are all grown up and are now bringing home their grown-up boyfriends.   'Now they're bringing grown men home,' she said. 'Now they have boyfriends and real lives and all that stuff. They have grown up right before our very eyes and they are doing well.' While Michelle gushed about the 'amazing young women' her daughters have become — 'Women, I know!
