  US President, Joe Biden, his wife, Jill, former president Barack Obama were among the dignitaries at the funeral service of former Secretary of State Colin Powell at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC. Powell, who was battling a rare blood cancer, died last month at 84 from complications related to COVID-19.  

At least eight people have died and many others have been rushed to the hospital after a crushing event at Astroworld Festival in Houston, US. A Dutchman had to undergo reconstructive surgery on his penis after a cobra bit his manhood as he sat on the toilet, causing it to rot. The incident happened during a safari trip in South Africa.  The 47-year-old victim suffered scrotal necrosis after the cold-blooded serpent, which was lurking in the toilet bowl, attacked, according to Urology Case Reports. In what the medical journal described as the first case of “snouted cobra envenomation of the genitals,” the unidentified man had to wait three hours before he was flown by helicopter to the nearest trauma center some 220 miles away. “His penis and scrotum were noted to be swollen, deep purple in color, and painful on hospital admission. Scrotal necrosis was diagnosed, and he received multiple doses of a non-specific snake venom antiserum and broad-spectrum antibiotics,” according to the medical report. Brazilian pop star Marília Dias Mendonça, 26, was one of five people reported dead in an air taxi crash in a mountainous region near the city of Piedade de Caratinga. The plane came down in a mid-afternoon local time on Friday, Nov. 5,  in a mountain region near the city of Piedade de Caratinga, in the interior of Minas Gerais. Firefighters reported that the plane’s fuel tanks had ruptured on impact, but they say there was no danger of an explosion. The 26-year-old singer was one of five reported dead in the crash. The plane was hired from a company called PEC Táxi Aéreo.     The cause of the accident is still unknown. Air crash investigators from the Brazilian Air Force, are already investigating the causes. The plane had taken off from Goiânia, and Mendonça was preparing to perform in Caratinga. Unknown gunmen on Friday evening, November 5, opened fire on passersby at Neokeisima junction Umulogho in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, killing three on the spot.    According to The Nation, the shooting which took place around 7.50 pm, caused pandemonium as residents and passersby scampered for safety.   An eyewitness said the assailants immediately zoomed to Umuahia in Abia State in the car while the victims were soaked with blood.   Contacted, spokesperson of the State Police Command, CSP Michael Abattam said the police was yet to get report of the incident.   "I will investigate the incident and get back to you." he said.   

The Duchess of York could be called as a witness in the sex assault lawsuit against her husband, Prince Andrew.  Lawyer David Boies, who represents the Duke of York's accuser Virginia Roberts, spoke of his intentions to formally speak with two British witnesses to a New York judge. Ronnie Wilson, a founding member of the popular funk and R&B group the Gap Band alongside his brothers Charlie Wilson and Robert Wilson, has died.   Ronnie’s wife Linda Boulware-Wilson confirmed the news to TMZ, saying he died Tuesday morning, November 2, after suffering a stroke last week.    In a statement, Boulware-Wilson called him a “genius with creating, producing and playing the flugelhorn, trumpet, keyboards and singing music.” He was 73.   Ronnie and his brothers, Charlie and Robert Wilson, formed The Gap Band back in the 1970s in Tulsa.   The Gap Band’s first album  Magicians Holiday  was released in 1974. Their biggest records arrived in the early 1980s.  Gap Band III  from 1980 featured “Burn Rubber on Me,” while 1982’s  Gap Band IV  included “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and “Outstanding.”     The band remained prolific throughout the ’80s and released multiple ...
