  Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez, pressed his hands together in a gesture asking for forgiveness after scoring against Barcelona in a LaLiga fixture on Saturday. It was Suarez’s first goal against his former employers since he left in the summer of 2020. The Uruguayan found the back of the net in the first half to put Atletico 2-0 up.   But Suarez remained respectful, refusing to celebrate even as his new teammates mobbed him in jubilation. Saturday’s match was the second time Suarez played against Barcelona since he was forced out by manager Ronald Koeman. A positive Covid-19 test robbed him of the chance to play against the Catalans in the first league fixture of last season, while he drew a blank in May’s 0-0 draw.  This time, though, he was on target, picking up on a sumptuous pass from Thomas Lemar  who had opened the scoring at the Wanda Metropolitano and firing home to double Atleti’s lead.  

Manchester United fans have called for the sack of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer after the coach didn't play Cristiano Ronaldo for the visit of Everton at Old Trafford in a match that ended 1-1. Despite Ronaldo's return of five goals in five games since his emotional homecoming to United, Ole decided to bench his star player on Saturday, October 2, stating that he was trying to protect him from getting injured.   After hearing Solskjaer's team selection, former footballer, Rio Ferdinand said in the BT Sport studio: 'You rest Ronaldo at times, he’d expect it at 36. Men of the Delta State Police Command have arrested an armed robbery suspect with 340 rounds of AK47 live ammunition hidden in a bag of garri. Disclosing this to newsmen, the spokesman of the State Police command, Bright Edafe, said the suspect, Solomon Ebe, was arrested by policemen attached to Bomadi Divisional patrol team during a stop and search along Bomadi/Tuomo road.   “On the 01/10/2021 at about 07:30 hrs Policemen attached to Bomadi Divisional patrol team while on stop and search duty along Bomadi/Tuomo road intercepted a cyclist carrying one Solomon Ebe ‘m’ age 37yrs of Tuomo Community Burutu LGA Delta State carrying bag containing Garri. The Operative who were discreet in their responsibilities on reasonable suspicion decided to search the suspect and the bag. Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will miss four week of action due to a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old midfielder who was left out of Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Central Africa Republic over two legs will miss the Foxes games against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Spartak Moscow, Brentford and Brighton.   A man from Florida walked into a police station this week and confessed to murdering a prostitute back in 2011, saying he has carried the guilt for nearly a decade and couldn't keep it to himself any longer. Benjamin Moulton showed up at the Manatee Police Department on Wednesday, September 29 and confessed to strangling a prostitute, Nicole Scott when he got angry nearly 10 years ago. A passing motorcyclist spotted her partially-clothed body in a wooded area near Lakewood Ranch in December 2011. Police say as at when her body was found tge victim also had signs of trauma on her face.   Investigators eventually determined Scott was likely killed days before she was dumped in the woods.  As at the time she was killed investigators questioned Moulton in connection with her slaying, but they were never able to collect enough evidence to arrest him. “We knew there may have been a connection between him and our victim Nicole, we just were not able to put ...

Fashion mogul, Peter Nygard on Friday agreed to be extradited from Canada to the United States where he faces nine charges of raping dozens of women and girls, racketeering and sex trafficking. The 80-year-old Finnish-Canadian millionaire, who has been held in prison since his arrest in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, last December, made a brief court appearance via video link. Scott Farlinger, a lawyer representing the Canadian government in the case, explained that Nygard, who'd been denied bail on the grounds he might tamper with witnesses or his accusers, had opted not to fight the extradition. Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench Chief Justice Glenn Joyal said Nygard can't be extradited for at least 30 days. However, the disgraced fashion designer can apply for judical interim release, also known as bail, while the new justice minister confirms or denies his extradition.  Nygard's lawyer Brian Greenspan confirmed to the court that the designer consented...

The US Senate on Thursday afternoon voted to keep the government funded thorugh a stopgap funding bill to avert a shutdown by extending the funding through December 3. The Senate voted 65-35 to pass the measure, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said lawmakers would approve it and send it to President Joe Biden for his signature. “We hope this can be a strongly bipartisan bill because it keeps loyal services running, protects up to hundreds of thousands of workers from furloughs and protects the economy from shutdown,” Pelosi said. “A shutdown is not anything anyone wants.”   If the bill is not enacted, the federal government would face a shutdown after the calendar turns to Friday.  The bill also included $28.6 billion for disaster assistance and $6.3 billion for Afghan refugees.
