  The Bayana Bayana of South Africa on Tuesday defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria to lift the Maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Cup. The final match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos saw the visiting South Africans beating the Nigerian side 4-2 to lift the trophy. A calamitous first half saw the Super Falcons down by 3-0 in a disappointing display.   The South Africans opened scoring on 6 minutes from an own goal by Alozie Michelle. The Bayana Bayana quickly added a second goal from the penalty spot through Motlhalo Linda. It got worse for the Super Falcons as South Africans added a third goal before the end of first half from a Salgado Gabriela’s header. A 40-year-old mother-of-four who shared anti-vax and anti-mask posts on social media has died after contracting COVID-19.   Screenshots of Kristen Lowery's posts on her Facebook account which has now been placed on private, has been shared on Reddit and other sites.    A  GoFundMe page set up to raise money to help pay for her funeral said she died ‘unexpectedly’ on September 15.    Lowery from  Escalon, California in some of her posts described herself as ‘unmasked, unmuzzled, unvaccinated, unafraid’ and a ‘free thinker’. Two brothers have been found guilty of killing their younger silbling after having a family dispute. 26-year-old Thomas Rogers who was a passenger in a Vauxhall Astra, was found to have been stabbed in an open window in an attack that lasted just 30 seconds. Thomas was found to have collapsed in the street by emergency services and was later pronounced dead at hospital from a devastating stab wound to the chest.  Brothers of the deceased, David Rogers, 32, and Samuel Rogers, 30, who were arrested, charged with murder and arraigned before Birmingham Crown Court, were said to have jumped out of their car armed with knives at 4.55pm on August 22 last year after spotting Thomas who was travelling along Bristol Road in Birmingham.  Prosecutors told jurors that the brothers carried out the attack following a bitter family argument which forced Thomas Rogers to live with his mother. Samuel filmed his brother going over to the Astra and b...

Popular celebrity photographer, Fortunate Peter Umunname, has passed on. He reportedly drowned yesterday, September 21, at a location in Lekki, Lagos state. Fortunate is known to have worked with many Nigerian celebrities, with many of their photos bearing the photographer's logo.     He was Davido's official photographer and hailed the singer in 2019 for changing his life for good.  

Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed two unidentified young men in Awka, the Anambra State capital.  It was gathered that the incident occurred around 11:am on Tuesday, September 21, opposite Udoka housing estate, along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, close to the NNPC mega petrol station, Awka. A witness said the victims were shot at close range by their assailants before they drove off.    “I saw them. They just shot the two guys who were businessmen in the area and drove off. Nothing was taken from them. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 30 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation at Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete. Spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Monday said the suspects were arrested following actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud activities. “Part of the intelligence indicated that suspected internet fraudsters were operating in campuses around Ilorin metropolis to swindle unsuspecting victims of their hard-earned income.   “Based on the intelligence, and weeks of surveillance, operatives of the Commission on September 19, 2021 executed a search warrant in hostels within the KWASU campus, where a number of arrests were made,” he said. Ex-rugby league player,  Liam Walsh has been confirmed as the 23-year-old man who died after being hit by a car. Walsh was involved in a collision late on Saturday night and was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries, but medics were unable to save him.A Cheshire Police statement read: "Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, he passed away a short time later. His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers. "The driver of the car was uninjured.
