A small fire broke out at Tottenham Hotspur's Stadium on Thursday morning, September 2, forcing the club to evacuate 300 people from inside the ground. According to reports, air compressor caught fire which led to the evacuation at around 10am, with the flames then put out by an electrician before two engines from the London Fire Brigade arrived on the scene.  No injuries were reported among the 300 people evacuated from the north London stadium by Tottenham Hotspur staff, who were following standard safety procedures. A statement from the London Fire Brigade read on Thursday: 'Firefighters were called to a fire at a football stadium on High Road in Tottenham this morning (Thursday). An air compressor was damaged by the fire.'     'Around 300 people were evacuated from the nine-storey building by on-site staff. Another accuser has testified that R. Kelly allegedly kept a gun by his side as the singer forced her to give him oral sex in a Los Angeles music studio. The witness, who took the stand and was identified only as 'Faith', testified about her alleged terrifying encounter with the singer when she was 19, during his trafficking trial in a New York federal court on Wednesday. Faith, who is R Kelly’s  6th alleged victim said during her fourth trip to meet up with Kelly in 2018, he took her into a small room of a Los Angeles music studio, and when she noticed a gun by his side he told her 'don't look at it.'She then testified that Kelly, 54, began inquiring about her sexual history, asking her 'how many men have you seen naked?' and warned her if she lied 'there would be an issue.'   The drama between actress Annie Idibia,  her musician husband Tuface Idibia, and his family seems to have come to a head as Annie has removed "Idibia" from her name on  Instagram.  The mother-of-two used to go by "Annie Macaulay Idibia" on Instagram but she has now edited her bio to read "Annie Macaulay", reverting to her maiden name. She also removed the part that reads: "Official IG page of Annie.M.Idibia"   Before Now   This comes after she accused her husband of sleeping under the same roof with one of his other children's mothers,  Pero Adeniyi, and claimed his family never loved her  

A law banning abortion from as early as six weeks into pregnancy has come into effect in the US state of Texas. It bans abortions after the detection of what anti-abortion campaigners call a foetal heartbeat, something medical authorities say is misleading. The law, one of the most restrictive in the country, took effect after the Supreme Court did not respond to an emergency appeal by abortion providers. Doctors and women’s rights groups have heavily criticized the law. It gives any individual the right to sue doctors who perform an abortion past the six-week point. The so-called “Heartbeat Act” was signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in May. But rights groups, including Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), then requested that the Supreme Court block the legislation.  

  Japan has put a batch of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine on hold after a foreign substance was found in a vial. A pharmacist saw several black particles in one vial of the vaccine in Kanagawa Prefecture, according to authorities. Some 3,790 people had already received shots from the batch. The rest of the batch has now been put on hold. It comes less than a week after Japan suspended the use of about 1.63 million Moderna doses due to contamination. The pharmacist found the black particles while checking for foreign substances before the vaccine’s use. The jab’s domestic distributor has collected the vial suspected to be contaminated. Local media reports say there is no evidence so far of any health hazards caused by the potentially contaminated vaccine. Takeda Pharmaceutical, which sells and distributes the vaccine in Japan, had just last week put three batches of the vaccine on hold after “foreign materials” were found in some doses of a batch of roughly 560,000 vials. Ten-year-old Ifunanya is currently battling for her life in an undisclosed hospital in Abia State after she was allegedly scalded with hot water by her employer, Ojiugo David. Punch Metro learnt that the victim lived with David at their residence on Aba Road, in the Umuahia area of the state. It was alleged that the suspect on Sunday boiled water and mixed it with pepper. She was reported to have forced Ifunanya to drink it. A witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the water scalded the lips of the victim and destroyed her voice box. The source said, “The woman is fond of accusing the girl of different atrocities and using that opportunity to beat her. Ifunanya’s body is full of different marks and wounds from the beating she always received from her. “The last Sunday’s own was the height of it when she boiled water with pepper and forced her to drink the water. “When she realised the extent of the damage she had done to the girl, she took her to a chemist in th...

An Edo State High Court, presided over by Justice Ohimai Oviageli, has remanded three suspected kidnappers for allegedly conspiring to kidnap a family.  Justice Oviageli ordered the remand of the suspects: Bright Emumwen, Evans Osariemen and Chukwudi Anyanwu, in Sapele Road Correctional Centre pending when legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, Edo State would be received. In an exparte order marked charge No: B/CD/1495M/2021, it was alleged that the suspects, among other charges, conspired among themselves, to kidnap one Sunday Onofua, his wife, patience Onofua and their son, Samuel Onufua, all of Okpagha Community, off Benin-Auchi Road Benin City, Edo State. The presiding Judge, after hearing the prosecution, I.E. Ekibade, ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution of Edo State for Legal Advice. The Judge thereafter adjourned the case to the 13th of September, 2021.
