Ansu Fati has been handed the huge responsibility of succeeding Lionel Messi as the new No 10 at Barcelona. Before now, there had been some suggestions that teenage midfielder Pedri could be handed the iconic jersey number. But in a video released on social media on Wednesday, September 1, Fati, who previously wore the No 22 shirt, was presented with his new shirt number for the 2021-22 season. Messi's shirt number has been vacant in the Barcelona squad since the six-time Ballon d'Or winner saw his contract expire. He has since joined Paris Saint-Germain in France.    In a statement on Barcelona's website they detailed how 'record breaker' Fati is the perfect player to be tasked with filling the huge void left by Messi. Zubby Michael took to Instagram to congratulate his "kid sister" on her promotion as a staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC. Sharing a photo of his sister, Cynthia Egwu, in her uniform, the actor asked God to bless her. He then said that she has "chosen to be useful when most of our girls are desperate for fame and going into mobile prostitution".     His comment did not go down well with many people and he was called out by some followers. Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is the 18th most expensive player in the world, Punch Sports Extra reports. In a report released by FIFA, which has records of transfers done in the last 10 years, Osimhen ranks 18th in the world after his €81m move from French Ligue 1 side Lille to Serie A side Napoli in August 2020. The move also makes him the most expensive signing in Africa, eclipsing Ivoirian Nicolas Pepe’s €80m move to Arsenal from Lille a year earlier. Brazilian forward Neymar is the world’s most expensive player, after moving from Barcelona to PSG for €222m in 2017. He is followed by Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid for a fee that could exceed €174m two years later.   Philippe Coutinho’s 2018 move from Liverpool to Barcelona worth €170m is rated the third most expensive move, while Ousmane Dembele’s €157.78 move to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 is fourth.   Manchester United have posted pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo wearing the club’s kit for the first time since he completed his return to the club.   The 36-year-old looked set to leave Juventus for United’s bitter rivals Manchester City. But the Red Devils stepped in last Friday to complete a stunning swoop. United will pay an initial fee of £12.85million for Ronaldo, who is currently away with Portugal on international duty. Ronaldo’s new number is still yet to be revealed, with Edinson Cavani hanging on to the No.7 for the time being. However, a series of snaps from an official photoshoot were released on Tuesday night, showing Ronaldo proudly showing off the famous red of United once again.

Tottenham have completed the signing of right-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona. Emerson has signed a contract until 2026 and will wear the No 12 shirt at Spurs.A Spurs statement read: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit. "The right-back has signed a contract with us until 2026 and will wear the number 12 shirt. Emerson will travel to London from Spain later this week." Sky Sports News reported on Monday that a bid worth £25.73m (€30m) was made for the right-back, which was later accepted by the Spanish club, with personal terms also agreed. Arsenal were keen on signing Emerson, but the 22-year-old instead wanted a move to Spurs. Brazilian Emerson joined Barcelona in 2019 from Atletico Mineiro. He then moved to Real Betis, but returned to the Nou Camp this summer when Barcelona exercised a buy-back clause.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed banks to publish the names and Bank Verification Numbers BVN of its customers who default on its Forex policy. In a circulate to banks dated Monday, August 30th, the apex bank lamented that it has “received and noted with concern reports of sharp practices by some unscrupulous customers to circumvent the new CBN policy on the sale of forex for overseas personal and business travel”. The bank said some of the unwholesome practices of some customers include “include the use of fake visas and cancellation of air tickets after purchase of PTA/BTA”. Haruna B. Mustafa Director Banking Supervision Department of the CBN, who signed the circular, noted: “this trend, if not curbed, portends risk to the integrity and stability of the forex market”.
