Grammy-winning folk singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith has died at the age of 68. A statement from the star’s manager to the Associated Press confirmed the sad news of her death Nanci died in her hometown of Nashville. However, the cause of Nanci’s death has not been disclosed. “It was Nanci’s wish that no further formal statement or press release happen for a week following her passing,” Gold Mountain Entertainment shared. Her former record label Rounder Records also said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear that Nanci Griffith has passed. “Our condolences to her family, friends and many fans. May she Rest in Peace”. The star, who was born in Texas, was best known for her hit songs such as Love at the Five and Dime and From a Distance, which was later covered by artists including Bette Midler and Cliff Richard. Fast rising Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade has revealed that when she first got into Nollywood, everybody wanted to sleep with her. She said at every point, actors, producers and others wanted to sleep with her which she always rejected. Veteran singer, Paul Play Dairo, has taken to his Instagram page to share his thoughts on the current state of the entertainment industry. In his post, the veteran singer opined that the industry at the moment is filled with envy, hate, pride, and unwarranted rudeness. He particularly took a swipe at entertainers who have problems with helping their colleagues publicize their work.   Men of the Lagos state police command have arrested an armed robbery suspect with two locally-made pistols and five live cartridges concealed in a bag. Confirming his arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the male suspect, Sunday Akpa, 24, was arrested in Iba area of the State by the eagle-eyed anti-crime patrol team of the Iba Police Division at about 1730hrs of 13th August 2021. Nigerian rapper, Mr Raw and his friend have survived a ghastly motor accident. The accident reportedly occurred before Bannex Junction in Abuja, in the early hours of today, Saturday, August 14.     According to Raw, he was pulled out of the red car (pictured above) unconscious after another driver rammed into the car. He said he passed out twice but fortunately, he is now in a stable condition and is responding to treatment. Operatives of the Enugu Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested 42 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations in Awka and Enugu. Twenty-nine (29) of the suspects were arrested in Awka while thirteen (13) were arrested in Enugu following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud. Two police officers have been killed after bandits attacked the Izombe police station. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Michael Abattam, says the bandits who arrived in their numbers could not gain access to the station due to the swift response of the ever-alert Imo Command's Tactical teams and Personnel of Operation Restore Peace of the command who intercepted and repelled the bandits.        ''The bandits who on sighting the police engaged them in a gun duel were subdued due to the superior fire power of the police.
