A South African court on Tuesday, July 20, adjourned former president Jacob Zuma's arms deal corruption trial to August 10, after the former leader applied for a postponement to appear in person rather than virtually. Zuma's jailing earlier this month triggered some of the worst civil protests by his supporters who looted, stole from public and private properties leaving hundreds dead. The protests were the worst ever seen in South Africa of the post-apartheid era. Zuma's successor, President Cyril Ramaphosa, authorized the deployment of 25,000 soldiers to quell the unrest, and more than 2,500 people have been arrested. Zuma appeared by video link in court on Monday to seek a further delay in his corruption trial. Republican lawmaker, Marjorie Taylor Greene has been suspended by Twitter for posting "misleading" information about Coronavirus. Greene was suspended for 12 hours after she posted messages that violated Twitter's policy against sharing misleading information about the Coronavirus. In two tweets on Monday July 19, she argued that vaccines should not be required, and that COVID-19 was not dangerous for people aged under 65 who are not obese. Both posts are still on display, but have been tagged by Twitter as "misleading".   Nashville Predators' Luke Prokop has become the first active NHL player signed by a club to come out as gay. The Canadian, 19, who is yet to play for Nashville, was their third-round draft pick in 2020. He made the announcement in an Instagram post. Prokop said: "While the past year and a half has been crazy, it has also given me the chance to find my true self. I am no longer scared to hide who I am. "Today I am proud to publicly tell everyone that I am gay." The Polish Swimming Federation was forced to cut its contingent of 23 to 17 after admitting they sent too many athletes to Japan following a misunderstanding of FINA qualifying standards. “I express great regret, sadness, and bitterness about the situation related to the qualification of our players for the Olympic Games in Tokyo,” Pawe? Eight persons including two aide workers and a relation of Governor Samuel Ortom were, Sunday, reportedly killed during a raid on Nzorov and Uvir council wards of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen. Vanguard gathered that the deceased aid workers attached to the 360 Health Systems Diagnostics and Correction, 360HSDC, a Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, working on HIV/AIDS testing and counseling in the state were earlier abducted by the herders before they were killed. The workers, according to the source, were said to be on their routine assignment when they were captured by their abductors at Tomanyiin village. The source disclosed that a call, which was put to the phone of one of the workers, after the news of their capture circulated in the community, was picked by one of the herders, who confirmed their kidnap and killing.
