Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 24 arrested six suspected internet fraudsters.   A statement released by Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the antigraft agency gave the names of the suspects as Tochukwu Okoro, Okechukwu Ejechie, Nwankwo Okeke, Edeh Emmanuel, Emeka Chukwunonso and Kenechukwu Ekunie.   He said they were arrested at Bricks Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu based on credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.   According to the statement, a Toyota Camry car with registration number YAB 418 AZ was recovered from Tochukwu Okoro while other incriminating materials including laptops and mobile phones were recovered from the other suspects.   He said the suspects will be charged to Court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

American actor and Empire star, Bryshere Gray, has been sentenced to 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to felony aggravated assault for choking his wife until she passed out.   Gray, 27, who played Hakeem Lyon on the Fox TV series, entered a guilty plea in his domestic violence case, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.   Gray was arrested on domestic violence charges in July last year after a woman said her husband had assaulted her for ‘several hours’.   When cops got to their home in Goodyear, Arizona, Gray refused to come outside and barricaded himself inside the house overnight.   Police said the woman had multiple visible injuries on her body and that she said Gray strangled her at one point until she passed out. The Makurdi Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested four suspected fraudsters in Benue State.     The suspects Igba Simon, Edigbo Oibe Fredrick, Sunday Nazarethe and one other, were rounded up by operatives of the Commission sequel to credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.   The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, May 18, at a popular Hotel in Makurdi.     At the point of arrest, Simon Igba was in possession of a Toyota Corolla car recently acquired and an iPhone X. More iPhones, Macbook Air and Modems, were among items recovered from the remaining suspects.   They will soon be charged to court.  

A bill seeking to scrap National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme has reached its second reading in the House of Representatives.  The bill titled Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alteration Bill, 2020, is sponsored by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Rivers state, Awaji-Inombek Abiante. In the explanatory memorandum of the proposal, Abiante listed the various reasons why the NYSC should be scrapped. French fashion tycoon, Bernard Arnault is now the world's richest man after his net worth climbed to $186.3billion. The chief executive of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) saw his luxury goods firm stock increase by 0.4 per cent during the first hours of trading on Monday, May 24. The rise pushed Arnault's personal stake up by more than $600million and placed LVMH's market cap at $320billion, according to Forbes. Arnault's overall net worth jumped to $186.3billion, edging past Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who is worth $186billion, by 'only' $300million in the world's rich list. The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming a police station in the state was set ablaze by hoodlums on Monday May 24.     A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that some hoodlums attempted to set ablaze the Oke Odo Division of the command but were repelled, however twelve (12) of them were arrested. Adejobi while dismissing reports of the attack, stated that no life was lost during the failed attempt to attack the police station.   Adejobi added that the command has restored normalcy to Elemoro where another set of hoodlums attempted to set ablaze the newly built police station which accommodates the Area J Command, Ajah, and Elemoro Division of the command in connection with a case of fatal accident recorded in the area  on Monday.   The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, has deployed adequate personnel to the areas.
