The 2021 Bafta Film Awards has finally taken place after being pushed back by months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   The event, which held at the Royal Albert Hall with nominees attending virtually, was split over two days, with Saturday’s (10 April) Opening Night ceremony announcing the winners of the technical categories, and Sunday’s (11 April) event revealing the winners of the remaining major awards.   A brief tribute was paid to the 99-year-old Prince Philip, BAFTA’s first president, who died last week before the winners were announced.    Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland” dominated at the BAFTA Film Awards, after winning four prizes, including best film. Comedienne Ada Jesus has denied making any derogatory remark about popular native doctor, Pericoma.  Ada Jesus who spoke to BBC Igbo, revealed that all she did was beg Pericoma after Prophet Odumeje insulted him and his family. Admitting that she said things against Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, she stated that she has begged everyone for forgiveness. She also disclosed that her kidney disease which she’s been suffering for over a year became worse after she failed to abstain from some things. Ada Jesus said she’s been told to travel to India for a kidney transplant over the ailment that has left her incapacitated.

  The Imo state police command has accused Fulani herdsmen of being behind the  a bduction of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Marcel Izu Onyeocha.  The state police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu said  Rev . Fr. Marcel Izu Onyeocha of Mother Theresa of Golgotha Catholic Church, World Bank Owerri was kidnapped after his vehicle developed a fault around Ihube in Okigwe LGA.  Ikeokwu said the  Commissioner of Police, CP Nasiru Mohammed has activated all the tactical teams of the Command with a view to rescue the priest and possibly arrest the culprits. Two women have been arrested for allegedly killing a man in Ikotun, Lagos state. The deceased, Osita Anwuanwu, 64, was found unconscious at Arida area of Ikotun Lagos State on April 8, 2021, at 8:45pm. Efforts to save him proved abortive. The daughter of the deceased, Linda Anwuanwu, of Temitope street, off Governor's Road, Ikotun, Lagos State, had reported to the police at Ikotun Division on April 8 that she was informed that her father was lying down in a bar at Arida after he had a misunderstanding with one Ngozi Emezue, 38, and Juliet Eguebor, 35.   The Police Operatives at Ikotun Division raced to the scene and took Osita Anwuanwu to the General Hospital, Igando, where he was certified dead.   According to a statement released by the Lagos State Police Command, preliminary investigation by the police, revealed that "the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, Juliet, who he had not seen for some times, at Ngozi's bar, where he engaged the duo ...

A Nigerian cleric, Archbishop Samson Benjamin, has protested against bad governance, President Buhari's adminstration, political, traditional and religious leaders. American model, Ashley Gerren Taylor, who appeared on the BET reality series Baldwin Hills and documentary America the Beautiful, has passed away. She was only 30 years old. According to The Shaderoom, the mother of one passed away in her sleep due to natural causes on Sunday, April 11, at about 4:30am.      The report also said she battled with Lupus disease and was on dialysis at the time of her death. She also had various health issues.  Her fellow BET star  Ray Cunningham  has confirmed the sad news via his social media pages. Taking to Twitter,  he wrote, "Just got the worst news. I hate it's on the internet already. RIP to my @BET fam, my babes Gerren (Baldwin Hills)." He added in another tweet, "Unfortunate circumstances.
