American actor Zach Avery was arrested by FBI agents in Los Angeles on Tuesday for allegedly masterminding a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of hundreds of millions of dollars, US authorities said. Avery, whose real name is Zachary Horwitz, told investors his company 1inMM Capital would buy film distribution rights and license them to Netflix and HBO but in fact had “no business relationship with either company”, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Instead, the 34-year-old operated the company as a Ponzi scheme, using money from new investors to pay older ones, the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said in a statement. The SEC said his scheme had raised more than $690 million. The Department of Justice said it began in 2015 and that $227 million put in by victims was yet to be repaid. Global football governing body, FIFA has banned Chad from football until further notice. The decision was taken by the Bureau of the FIFA Council on Wednesday and takes effect immediately. Note that in December 2020, Fifa had rejected a request from the country’s ministry of sports to dissolve the Chadian Football Federation. On March 10, the minister for youth and sports released a statement to prevent the Chadian Football Association, FTFA, from performing its obligatory duties due to a dispute between both parties. CAF then disqualified Chad from the Africa Cup of Nations qualification race, just a few days prior to their fixtures against Namibia and Mali, following the sport Minister's actions. Yeovil Town captain and defender, Lee Collins was found hanging in his hotel room, an inquest has heard. The English footballer was discovered at the Lanes Hotel in West Coker, near Yeovil, on Wednesday, March 31. An inquest into the 32-year-old's death was opened and adjourned by Tony Williams, the senior coroner for Somerset, during a hearing in Taunton. In a statement read to the court, coroner's officer Ben Batley said Mr. Collins, from Newport, Gwent, was confirmed dead at the hotel on March 31. 'Lee was a professional footballer with Yeovil Town Football Club,' Mr. Batley said. 'It was identified that when Lee did not attend for training on March 31 enquiries were made at the hotel where he was staying, and he was found in his room hanging.   Real Housewives Of Atlanta alum Claudia Jordan apologized for mistakenly tweeting that rapper DMX had died. The 50-year-old New York rapper reportedly suffered a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack last week and is in the ICU at White Plains Hospital in New York. He is also battling COVID-19.  On Tuesday, April 6, Claudia, 47, wrote on her page: 'Rest in Paradise DMX,' only to later discover that the rapper is still alive. She then deleted her original tweet and then post: 'I'm sorry.' 'It's possible that she thought that the media had announced that DMX passed away,' wrote a Twitter user in the replies to her apology. 'I did,' confirmed Claudia who starred on just one season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. 'I deleted it. And apologized. I feel awful.' She continued: 'But they're right. Not my place. I just want to pray for the whole family & all his supporters that are in pain.'   

A former lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba (AAUA) Akoko, Dr Olatunde Adegbuyi, has been found dead inside his car. A source, who spoke to The Nation, said the former lecturer was found dead by some persons outside the university premises on Tuesday, April 6.  The deceased's car was found parked along Permanent sites street in Akungba, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The spokesman for the university, Victor Akinpelumi, who confirmed the death, said the institution sympathised with the family.   

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) is investigating the blood clotting in some persons who received the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Director General, Chikwe Ihekweazu, spoke to the press at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing. On Tuesday, the European Medicines Agency announced there’s a causal link between AstraZeneca’s jab and rare blood clots. Marco Cavaleri, Head of Health Threats and Vaccine Strategy, told Rome’s Il Messaggero newspaper that a definitive statement will be released this week. Ihekweazu said the government was aware of the blood clotting in individuals in Europe. “Those investigations are still ongoing. Not all European countries are adopting the vaccines for their populations,” he said. The DG assured that Nigeria has a system to measure and monitor any side effects. British actor and Harry Potter star, Paul Ritter, has died at the age of 54. His management in a statement released on Tuesday said he died of a brain tumour at home, surrounded by his wife and two sons. “It is with great sadness we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away last night. “He died peacefully at home with his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah by his side. He was 54 and had been suffering from a brain tumour. “Paul was an exceptionally talented actor and was fiercely intelligent, kind and very funny. We will miss him greatly,” the statement said. Prior to his death, Ritter featured in the HBO drama “Chernobyl; “Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince;” and James Bond film “Quantum of Solace.” In 2006 he was nominated for an Olivier award for his performance in Coram Boy and a Tony award for 2009’s The Norman Conquests.
