    At least 19 people across Myanmar were shot dead by security forces on Saturday, according to emergency workers and witnesses, as the junta celebrates Armed Forces Day with a military parade in the capital Naypyidaw. AFP has independently confirmed that nine died in the central Mandalay region, three in northern Shan state, one in the ancient city of Bagan, and six in Myanmar’s commercial hub Yangon. Local media puts the toll far higher. Meanwhile, the embassies of the European Union and the United Kingdom have condemned the killing of “unarmed civilians” in Myanmar on Saturday, coinciding with the junta’s Armed Forces Day. “This 76th Myanmar Armed Forces day will stay engraved as a day of terror and dishonor. The killing of unarmed civilians, including children, are indefensible acts,” the EU embassy in Yangon said on social media. Former colonial power Britain also said that the security forces “have disgraced themselves by shooting unarmed civilians”.

  Two Players have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Benin Republic’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier against Nigeria on Saturday evening in Porto Novo, Completesports reports. The two players that contracted the deadly coronavirus are Marcellin Koukpo and Jacques Bessan. Koukpo and Bessan will play no part in Benin’s clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Stade Charles de Gaulle. Benin head coach, Michel Dussuyer, has, however, called up Yannick Aguemon and Jean Ogouchi as replacements for Koukpo and Bessan. Dussuyer’s men currently sit in the second position on the Group L table with a point behind leaders Nigeria, who have eight points after four matches. A victory for Benin against Nigeria will see them top the Group and boast their chances of qualifying for the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon.

  Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday, when fire gutted seven vehicles on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.  It could not be confirmed if there were casualties, but the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, said the fire has been doused by a rescue team and men of Lagos Fire Service. He said: “Mop up is being concluded at about 6a.m. Saturday and recovery effort ongoing.” Below are images from the scene of the fire incident.

Eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have reportedly been kidnapped by bandits in Kaduna State. They were reportedly abducted on Friday evening, March 26 while on transit along Kachia Road in the southern part of the state. A Twitter influencer, Oluwapelumi has called out a Lagos restaurant for not allowing her in over her outfit.  According to her, she was stopped at the entrance of the restaurant located in Victoria Island by the security guys who went on to call her a prostitute.  Oluwapelumi tweeted;    The Grills by Delis in VI just pissed me tf off, not only did they deny me entrance from their restaurant, the security guys spent a good amount of time talking about me within hearing shot and calling me a prostitute and being stupid judgmental. I was told I couldn’t go in, I said fine, waited for my date to come out so we’d leave. Next thing the stupid ass people started talking smack about me. Is this how you guys run this place???    

Nollywood actress, Jemima Osunde has slammed a Twitter user who asked that Ebuka Obi Uchendu be replaced as the host of Big Brother Naija.  The Twitter user had written: "Ebuka don eat small, make him allow another person chop! Frank Edoho as BBNaija host for this season won't be a bad choice tho Eviction night go choke." Jemima Osunde replied: "I pray with everything I believe in that someone will orchestrate your own job being taken away from you and it will work.   I said what I said.   Four suspected traffic robbers alleged to have attempted to rob some operatives of the Rapid Response Team (RRS) have been arrested by the police in Lagos state. The suspects identified as Adewale Ismaila, 30; Chinadu Okafor 26; Tote Victor 19 and Abdulahi Olalere a.k.a ‘Orobo’ 20, were arrested around Abiola Garden, Ojota, by an undercover police team they wanted to rob on Thursday, March 25.
