Police in Kenya have arrested a 55-year-old Nigerian man, Yussuf Daniel Masara, for allegedly defrauding a U.S national of Sh17.6 Million.  A statement issued on Thursday, February 4, by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI, said detectives based in Kilimani, Nairobi arrested Masara on Wednesday night for obtaining money by false pretense. "Yussuf Daniel Masara had convinced his victim, a U.S national that he would sell him 50Kgs of gold valued at Sh17.6 Million," the statement reads. "However after failing to keep his end of the bargain, the matter was reported to detectives based at Kilimani leading to his arrest. Masara is believed to be part of a wider criminal enterprise, defrauding unsuspecting victims"

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Benin Zonal office have arrested three suspected fraudsters for allegedly being involved in a land sale scam.  The suspects identified as Monday Evboumwan, Adams Edigin, and Charles Amenaghawon, were paraded at the Commission's office.. According to the spokesperson of the antigraft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, the suspects allegedly sold a non-existent plot of land for N6 million to an unsuspecting victim. He said they have made useful statements and that they would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations were completed.

The Anambra state government has announced the introduction of a curfew in the state, to help check the spread of COVID19 virus. The Secretary to Anambra State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who disclosed this, said the curfew will start from Monday, February 8, and will last from 9pm to 6am daily until further notice.   Three Pennsylvania neighbours are dead following a fatal shooting incident during a fight over snow shoveling. A video of the fatal shooting that occurred in Plains Township on Monday, Feb 1, shows a man shooting two of his neighbors to death following a verbal altercation. Just before 9 a.m. on Monday, Plains Township police officers responded to a report of shots fired in a residential neighborhood and discovered 50-year-old James Goy and his 48-year-old wife, Lisa Goy, lying dead in the street in front of their home, according to a joint statement by Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis and Plains Township Police Chief Dale Binker.     Residents in the area directed police officers to a house across the street from the Goys' home, but as they approached the front door, a gunshot rang out, the officials said.   A man accused of stealing N7 million Naira from his former employer and using it to open his own phone shop has been nabbed after two months. The employer, Kola Adesina took to Twitter to share a photo of the man, stripped to his underwear and tied hands and feet after he was caught. Kola said he's been hunting him for two months. The man, named Sunday, has now been handed over to the authorities.   

American rapper, Lil Uzi Vert has implanted an 11-carat pink diamond reportedly worth  $24 million into his forehead.  This comes days after the XO Tour Llif3 rapper known for his extravagant jewellery purchases, revealed his plans for the face diamond.  He told his fans in last month: "I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now. This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond.   A lot of M’s in my face "   This week, the 26-year-old rapper whose real name is Symere Bisil Woods, unveiled the boldface piercing on his Instagram.  

A Sokoto State High Court has sentenced a middle-aged man, Aminu Ibrahim, to four years imprisonment for raping a 9-year-old girl.  Ibrahim was convicted on January 28, 2021, by the court presided over by Honourable Justice Muhammad Muhammad.  The convict was dragged before the Court by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).  According to a statement issued on Wednesday, February 3, by Stella Nezan, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of NAPTIP, the convict was arrested on September 2020, by the operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense in Sokoto metropolis.  He was said to have lured the victim, who is his neighbour's daughter, with offer of biscuit and money and thereafter raped her.  Speaking on the judgement, Director General of NAPTIP, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim commended the Judiciary for granting accelerated hearing on the case saying that it was a judgment well...
