  Doctors working in Ondo State government-owned hospitals have embarked on indefinite strike action. The doctors say they chose to down tools over the recent slash in the salaries of workers by the state government. Spokesperson of the Ondo Government Doctors Forum, Omolayo Olubosede, revealed this while addressing newsmen in Akure, the State capital. The protesting doctors have placed a five-point demand before the state government, including the Immediate payment of full salary arrears and the replacement of doctors who left service.   The other demands include the payment of COVID-19 allowances, the implementation of skipping allowances, and the implementation of group Life Insurance.

A popular Abuja-based disk jockey, DJ Tunice, has died. DJ Tunice is said to have died on Monday night, February 1 after suffering a domestic accident. According to his close friends, the deceased was mopping the floor in his apartment when he slipped and hit his head on the ground. He was rushed to different hospitals but was allegedly rejected until he died. His friends have taken to social media to express shock at his demise. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Okoh Enejor, the  Benue businessman who was kidnapped by suspected herdsmen last week has been found dead around a forest location in Odokpo village, Okpokwu local government area. The body of the deceased who was waylaid along Odokpo/Ichama road while returning from one of the herdsmen settlements in the area where he bought three cows, was found after relations and friends paid N2 million ransom to his kidnappers. The Nation reported that Odokpo is a boundary village between Ado and Okpokwu local government councils in Benue, and it hosts a number of herdsmen settlements.  

Manchester United football club of England on Tuesday, February 2, won against Southampton with a heavy 9-0 scoreline, the first time the club will win another club with over 4 goals in the league since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.   The match was a contest for less than two minutes as visiting midfielder Alexandre Jankewitz was shown a straight red card early on for a lunging challenge on Scott McTominay. United went on to score four goals in the first half, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani finding the net. Jan Bednarek also scored an own-goal. Five strikes followed in the second as Anthony Martial netted after coming on at the break before goals from Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes, and another Martial strike. A man has been arrested after he reportedly fell through the ceiling of the women's gym locker room in Stafford. The man, Brian Anthony Joe was spying on the ladies at Onelife Fitness over the weekend when he came crashing down through the ceiling, landing on a lady before he was then cornered by some women until cops arrived, the Stafford County Sheriff’s wrote on Facebook. “The suspect fell on a woman below,” the sheriff’s office said. “The female was checked for injuries by rescue personnel at the scene, but she was not transported” to the hospital. Joe fell approximately 10 feet but was not injured. He was then held by women in the locker room till cops got there, authorities said. He was charged with burglary, vandalism, and three counts of peeping or spying into a building, the department said.   Joe is being held without bail at the Rappahannock County Jail.

A young man identified as Victor Egbubie aka Cartel has been allegedly shot dead in Onitsha, Anambra state.   Details are sketchy, however, it was gathered that the incident happened on Friday, January 29. According to one of the friends, Queen Shantel, he was allegedly killed by vigilantes.    Meanwhile, friends have taken to Facebook to mourn the deceased. They kept repeating phrases like "I get no Joy, No joy, blood for blood" . One OGSweetin wrote:    "Rip cartel m....Bloodline m.....Blood me personal no say you no get joy for that side you day like this......Victor your death pain me a lot the first time i heard the bad new i think is rumor but i went there and saw it with my two eyes... A notorious cultist/murder suspect Owolabi Oludipe a.k.a Somori was on Sunday 31st of January 2021 shot dead while he and his gang engaged police from Odogbolu division in gun battle. Oludipe who had been on the wanted list of the Command, was sighted at Ita-Ado area of Odogbolu where he and his fellow Aiye cult group were planning another attack in the Community. A distress call was made to the DPO Odogbolu division, who mobilized his men and moved to the scene. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, states that on sighting the policemen, the gang engaged them in a shoot out, after which their leader “Somori” was shot and injured while others escaped into the bush with their operational weapons.
